Definately. I loved vista but adore 7! So many new little features... Great fun.

I'd suggest using Windows 7 for a while before commiting to a switch. MS have put a lot of little changes in to try & make it easier for a new user but it tends to mean more annoyances.

I'd only upgrade from Vista to 7 if you wasn't paying for it ;-)

Well I'd be getting the student £30 ultimate steal deal, if I were to upgrade.

Windows 7 stopped my laptop constantly freezing (which it had done with Vista), but my son (who plays loads of PC games) had problems with it so he went back to XP, which he preferred over Vista.

been using 7 x64 for 4 months now (free upgrade when i bought my PC). Overall i have not been blown away with it. 7 does have new visual features, tweaks, very little driver incompatabiltiy issues & the UAC is more user friendly (no constant pop-ups when a program is run), but doesnt feel that much different to vista. it all depends on the capabilities of your PC to get full use of it

heres a review to read which i think is a bit bias to say "Windows 7 is unquestionably the best version of Windows that Microsoft has ever released" but will give you an idea of the changes

if after reading the review & people think its a worthy upgrade, i (& painkiller) would recommend you to try a friends PC before you buy as you may see the £82 upgrade as pointless, but after careful consideration (or dont know anyone with win 7) amazon are selling the upgrade from Vista - Win7 for £82, whereas the full version is £88 (this does not require vista to be installed if the operating fails which will save about 2 days of installing vista & then win 7 as well as updates)

Yes, vista is junk.

No its not.

I have 2 Vista PCs at home and one Windows 7.

To be honest both Vista boxes are fine, never crash, and I find I can move from the Vista box to the 7 box (or the other way round) and hardly notice a difference.

I think Vista has a bad reputation (which it mainly got when it first came out) which it never lost, but now it is fine.

Neither of my Vista boxes have ever crashed in the 2 years I have been using them.

I agree. Wish I'd saved myself £60 and stuck with vista. Far more stable for me.

Thanks for the advice :-)

If you really have no problems with Vista then I wouldn't bother. OS upgrades only worth doing with new systems these days (Windows anyways).
