There were talks a while ago about if you bought a new pc within a certain time period you qualified for a free upgrade to windows 7.

Does anyone know if this promotion is happening and if so how does it work and what dates between?

I don't know about the thread, but I read in a computer magazine that a disc will be mailed to you from the company you buy a pc from, though you have to pay delivery charge I think. You just state that you want the upgrade. If you already have the computer then call the company.

everything on dell now includes the free windows 7 upgrade, and yeah they'll just post you the disc when it's released.
#3
I think I read a thread on here that mentioned June 26th...?
#4
anybody buying a new pc now should be getting free upgrades til its released

Think its only retailers who are signed up to do it, so check with the shop if they are part of the sceme when buying the PC

lol its not coz its "pap"

its nowt to do with the retailer in the first place its the manufacturer mate, check the pc manufacturer through this site to see if your model applies
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/buy/offers/upgrade.aspx

Participation in the Windows 7 Upgrade Option is decided by the PC manufacturers. There are costs associated with implementing the offers so they may opt out of the program for certain models, particular timeframes, or in specific markets. We encourage customers to work with their PC manufacturers to better understand availability.

that thread was the biggest waste of time ive seen on this forum lol bless him for the effort tho!

So if you buy from a little single shop and they wont give you the upgrade casparwhite will offer you the upgrade free, nice one and rep lefted lol

To everyone who does not want to get there upgrade from casperwhite, and buys there PC made from a independant PC shop, please check they are part of the sceme lol

how can you build a sony vaio or a dell yourself.......

like i said its the maufacturer that will be sending the disc out not the retailer.....once you bought your pc from your retailer you have to goto the relevant maufacturers site and register your pc/laptop with your recewipt and computer details.....

what has joe bloggs building his own pc's got to do with anything exactly?
#13
i bought my laptop from tesco in april, will they give me a fre upgrade lol, unlikely but worth i shot

This is wrong as a independant shop might not

you did not bring up sony etc until later, and "Joe Bloggs PC" is a PC shop that makes its own PC a small independant PC shop, wow your slow and patronising when you dont have a clue.

Just to clarify, if you buy a big branded PC Sony, Dell etc you will get the upgrade, but not all PCs are made by them, independant shops make there own PCs they dont make sonys or dells, they buy there own parts and make it themselfs, think about what your saying first mate, all I am trying to do is let people know its worth asking the shop if you are getting a PC from a shop that makes there own PC who might be a small company.

OP might not be buying a big brand PC, if you can not comprehend that, there is no point keep talking about it.

Shame this is a family site that i cant swear on lol

It is a shop that employs people, and they make there own PCs (I even linked you to there website that has new PCs on, not repairs), not everyone is a big corporation.

Quote from the link you are to blind to see

"Whatever your computing requirements we can design and build a computer that will do whatever you require whether it's for films, mp3 music, photographs, games, internet or general computing. All new computers come with Windows Vista, Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro installed. If you already have a computer we may be able to transfer your old operating system on to your new computer. Contact us and we will be happy to discuss your needs."

So they do make PC's and dont jsut do repairs, mmmmm your a ****

OP Glad I am right, so please check with your shop first, instead of IDIOTS giving incorrect advice :)

They make them to order small companies do not make '000 of the same PC as they dont have the space to store them, so they make to order. OP was talking about buying a PC not where from so you cant garentee he will be buying from a big retairer. It is a shop you can walk in but as your to stupid to know the difference between a walk in shop and a house, you cant walk in to there is no point, so i wont check this thread anymore, all the best with yourself and your moral superioritycomplex
