Just booked up to go to Las Vegas in November as a last holiday of the year and can't wait!

Theres quite a few things I want to do when I get there including a few shows. Some people have said to wait till I get there to buy tickets for shows and most other attractions.

Whats people's opinion on doing this? Should I buy before I go, or wait till I get there?

I love the flickers on the strip, everytime i go to vegas, there are more of them and are out flicking for more hours in the day !!

I bring them all home and hand them out to my single mates.

Vegas is an amazing place. Great atmosphere and great fun.

Birdboy - PM sent

I'll defo give the rides at the Stratosphere a go, love those kind of things. I read that the coaster at NYNY is a bit bumpy and not very good though :(

It's not bad, just a bit old and noisy ...... worth the ride though.

Can anyone recommend particular shows? I wanna see a Cirque Du Soleil show although not sure which one. And I also fancy Phantom as I'm quite a fan, although I've heard its a condensed version.

Havn't done phantom myself, but my in laws have seen it 3 times !!
They said it's brilliant.

Make sure you see all the free shows / entertainment, ie, bellagio fountains, TI pirate show, volcano eruptions at the Mirage etc etc ....

Is it worth hiring a car for a few days?

got married in the little white chapel was amazing day, stayed at the excaliber,
So much to do you will have a blast, grand canyon tour is a must
#21
Don't bother with a car, you will not need it for around Vegas. Unless you are planning a trip further out, off the tourist path.

I've seen Mystere, Ka and La Reve and Ka was stunning, jaw dropping! Also seen the Phantom and whilst its not my kind of musical the theatre and general production were very impressive. It is slightly condensed i believe and there is no interval.

I would - vegas gets boring after a few days - good to get away from there, have a drive round lake mead, over the hoover dam and out to the grand canyon... There's a place on the strip where you can park for something like $3 a day.
#24
Our hotel offers complimentary parking so not worried about where to park!
#25
Bear in mind the Grand Canyon is a 5 hour drive each way. I wouldn't drive there. Get a helicopter, it's how the VIP's travel.

I havent seen the Vegas production of Phantom but its only an hour and a half but it has all of the songs in the original production so I'd say it would be interesting to see :)

Planning on doing a helicopter trip to the Canyon. Only thinking about a car as a few people have said that after a few days its nice to get away from the Strip, and having your own car means you can do whatever you want.

I would get a Car preferably something with a V8 in it, I have only done Vegas on work trips, and its not the place for me and that's with a "local guide" which I have done in NY, Chicago, Boston, San Diego and San Fran which was amazing as you get the locals view of the place rather than the tourist trail, If it was me I would tour up to northern California
