Hiya...

A've just got my PAC code from Voda as I was thinking of going on a 1 month contract and keeping my current phone until I see one I like or this one (Nokia N73) gives up the ghost... I now pay £25 for 200+250 and seen a deal from Orange for £10= 225+100... Less than half the price with more mins!!!

As I suspected would happen Voda have rang me umpteen times since - usually while I was in the boozer... Timing stinks!

The latest offer was as follows:

12 month sign up
£12-50 pcm
200+250

And a new phone from these:

Nokia "something" Classic
Nokia E65
Sony Ericsson 890
Samsung L81

What are anyones thoughts on this? The only reason I don't go straight away is because I'm considering how it would affect my bargaining power when I come to upgrade again. I fancy the SE C905 when it comes along but that's going to be expensive to start with I'd imagine!

Cheers all!

Seems pointless to upgrade to any of those phones when you have an N73 to be honest. Personally I upgraded with a no-hardware contract for 12 months and got a reasonable deal, that way I can invest in a handset I want without being tied into a long contract.

Cheers John... 12 months is long enough though isn't it?

I'd probably carry on with my N73 for as long as it lasts and at £12-50 per month isn't that a decent deal or did you get better still?

My deal was 20 pounds per month, 750 minutes, 250 texts plus unlimited calls, unlimited internet and Vodafone passport. For my usage it's extremely good, if I'd wanted a handset it would have costed more and it would be an 18 month contract rather than 12. 12 months is fine with me as I'm happy with Vodafone, I find any longer to be too much though.

How many times did you speak with them when they called you?

I don't know any of the phones you listed. You can always push for more minutes or txt if you are happy with either of those phones

I've spoke to them half a dozen times... So far.
Nokia E65
SE 890

Can't seem to find anything on the Samsung model though & I'm not 100% sure which Nokia Classic it is.

As for minutes 200 is usually plenty for me as I rarely go over that and they roll over anyway. I usually use 30 texts maximum.

John... £20 sounds good for what you get there but as mentioned I get nowhere near that so if they offered me 10,000 for an extra fiver it would mean nothing to me. Great if you use em though! ;-)

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it was good for me personally but appreciate not much use to you.

I would imagine the classic phone is the Nokia 6500 classic, at best the E65 is a sideways move however this phone on Vodafone has a poor reputation.

I'm surprise they call you back so many times. Is it always the same person calling? I have heard sometimes they just called once and then fail to call back after promising to call back in a few days.

Since you don't need much more minutes or better phone, you should definitely try and get them to lower your tariff more. Virgin sim only is £10 for 300 min and 300 txt so you could probably get your tariff below £10!!

There's been 2 different people - maybe 3 but they sound alike if it was a different girl.

Like you say I was surprised as well but even though they never ring when they say they will they do ring... Touch wood!?!

Hiya,

I am also with these guys. Every year we have the same discussion... 12 months is up, I want to leave. "OK we will send out your code in the next few days".
Then get a call from their retentions department asking why I wanted to leave. I normally find the best phone out at the moment (last year I got a N95 for £20 right after they were released). I only pay £18 a month and I never get anywhere near my limits.

Then you have two choices, sell the phone (I know your not supposed to but I lost it honestly!!) or sell your old phone on Ebay - either way you can pocket up to £250 depending on what phone you get.

The real trick is to have the exact phone you want in mind. Do not let them suggest a phone because they will still be trying to keep you on the profitable side.

I am currently holding out for the SE X1...if it every comes out!

Good luck
