I don't know if this has been discussed or not but there seems to be a lot of cold voting going on.

I understand people can vote how they like but would it not be a good idea if somebody did vote a deal cold, that they HAVE to post a reason why?

I've had a couple of deals i've posted cold and no explanations given.
I don't understand how something for half price (for example) can be a bad deal?

I've just posted another deal where something has been reduced from 4.99 down to 93PENCE and that has been voted cold as well????
I went out of my way and took down the info etc on a product that i didn't buy and have never used in the hope that it might be of use to other people on here ... only to be voted cold?
As someone else said in that thread ... "Makes you wonder why you bother sometimes. If someone has no interest in an item, I think they get a wee thrill hitting the cold tab."

I think this will eventually stop a lot of people bothering to post deals.

:)

What are your thoughts?

This has been asked several times. I agree that cold voters should comment on their reasons. It annoys me to see cold deals without any comments. I think is a "cold voter" brigade on here at times.

You can report it so that a mod can look at who is voting cold without leaving comments.

To me it doesnt bother me if my deals are voted on / hot or cold
If I find what i think is a deal im happy, i only post it then to help others, if they choose not to like my offer i dont loose sleep over it ;)

But i do leave reasons when i vote

Can somebody not make it so they HAVE to leave a comment ... like when you add to someone's repuation, a box pops up and you have to write a comment in it??

It's been like that for a while now, as soon as a deal is posted it goes sub zero straight away - it's put me off posting deals.

Me too. I got to the point that I couldn't be bothered anymore. Maybe my deals were rubbish too:p

I think there was a thread about this in feedback recently of someone who had been voting cold they lost their voting power for a short time because of it. So it proves the mods do take notice of the cold voters who are not leaving comments or of people that don't get how the voting system works.
I saw one comment where the cold voter had voted cold because the picture on the deal was blurred:w00t:. But at least they commented!
Don't let it put you off posting deals magough.

TBH, it's why I don't ever look at the "hot" page anymore, I would miss too many bargains, I always use the new tab for this reason.
People do obviously don't always vote cold on the merits of the deal and that defeats the whole object.
Rather than skip on by, people will deliberately vot cd/dvd, supermarket, clothes, etc deals cold. For no reason other than it's not what they are interested in. It's not supposed to happen but it does.
I would only look at the hot page if I was after a new pc/computer game/ps3/xbox ,etc, etc.:p I just skip on by.

Yeh agree. I tend to just look at the new tab. Hot offers often been hijacked in some way. Does work sometimes though but the New Tab is a failsafe.

I only vote hot on deals that appeal to me, never cold because they may be of interest to others. . Perhaps it's time to do away with the cold vote altogether?

People only ever vote cold because they don't like the brand or other similarly stupid reasons.
Maybe it is time to get rid of cold votes altogether. That way, if someone doesnt like something, they don't vote. much simpler than trying to deal with the "cold brigade"
#17
same things happen when voting hot though, people vote things hot when they dont even know if that is the best deal around

Very true, from what i've seen.

I thought that we were just supposed to vote on the deal itself ... not if it was any good to us or not?
Maybe that might be a good idea to get rid of the cold votes button?
#23
i agree.
I tend to abstain from most votes as i don't know what's the cheapest for a lot of the deals that come up here.
besides, it makes far more sense to just have a hot button.
that way, the hotter the better.
and most of all, the cold brigade won't spoil it for the rest of us.
and perhaps we'll finally be able to see the real deals on the hot pages!
#24
I agree - get rid of the cold vote.
If the product is found cheaper somewhere else - then that deal should then replace existing one - or add into title somewhere.
#25
It seems quite popular to get rid of the cold vote.

Can we make this happen?
Can anybody help??

Maybe we could have a big vote on it and then take it from there?

This will be interesting to see what happens next ;-)
#27
id give it a 0% to 0.1% chance of happening, removing the cold vote would ruin the site
#28
Surely only for the cold voters?

but what about the people that vote hot for no reason and promote a bad deal?? If you take the cold vote away the hot vote will have to go as well for the same reason then the site would be ruined.
#30
Do people do that?
Why would someone take the time to vote hot for a deal for no reason?

Becuase they think its a good deal and vote it hot without actually finding out if it is, ive seen plenty of deals made hot and soar to 100-200 degrees, then someone comments who actually knows about the deal and says that its cheaper elsewhere, the deal then plummets to minus 100-200 but by then people have bought it because they were under the assumption it was a hot deal

Just because this happens it doesnt mean the hot vote should be taken away though
