Should I seek professional attention or does this bug anyone else out there in HUKD land??

Grammar is a living representation of people's thoughts, if sufficient people think so then it becomes an effective grammar through understanding of usage and meaning. Then it becomes accepted as correct as an irregular conjugation.

That's probably for the best as you would more than likely have a few things to say about your OP if you were to.

The way I type and the way I speak are two totally different things..

Being from Yorkshire we have our own dialect (if any of you have met one of us)

We don't go to the shop for a bag of sweets

We nip t' shop f' some spice

just one of many differences! :D

I'm a bit ocd about spelling and grammar because I am very old and that is the way we were taught . I try to ignore it and see through the worst offences but there is one which shakes me to my mortal soul . ECT is short for electroconvulsive therapy . This is what they used to refer to as electric shock treatment and which was used on the mentally disturbed. This is completely different from ETC which comes from the Latin et cetera meaning and the rest .

Im terrible for spelling and grammar, but the brought, bought thing really annoys me too.

Also I 'h8 it wen peeps tlk wit da txt msg speech'

but I think the worst thing, really is the grammar nazis and sarcasm police pointing it out, over and over again.. Its one thing to have bad spelling or grammar its another to dedicate your online life to pointing it out.

Oh and when people say 'literally' example,

It was so funny I literally pee'd myself.... oO

or saying 'obviously' every other word.. thats a Jeremy Kyle thing

Whilst we're discussing language, I have to ask is English your first language?

I'm not saying this to cause offence but your posts don't read like they are typed by a native speaker.

Yes clearly mistypes, annoying still.

My grammar sucks, so I should not be too critical lol.

So English isn't your mother tongue. That's fine, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Proof?

Can you discern anything in my posts that might suggest otherwise?

I wasn't trying to offend you but the way you construct sentences and your choice of words and phrases suggests that English isn't your first language. That's all I was suggesting. For what it's worth your English is actually rather good considering.

Put your face photo here as proof, there is no need to be ashamed of your face. You got nothing to hide, or have you?

How would a photo of my face prove that my first language was English? X)

What does splender mean anyway? Is it a reference to something or have you misspelled splendour?

Seems like I hit a raw nerve with someone.

My mini rant about people who say 'could of' or 'should of' instead of 'could have' or 'should have' was removed. X)
