there website states that they will take games back from up 28days of purcahse as long as its still sealed weather brought online or instore.

do you think I will be able to take it back and get a refund even though ive played it?:|

I wouldn't mention about the frame rate, because the manager might then say,you should of checked the specs on the box before buying

yeah im just going to say ive got a 6600gt graphics card, which is the minimum spec needed to play the game but for somereason it dont work:|, hopefully ill get a refund or credit note.

anyone got any other ideas i can use

To be honest I wouldn't buy a game unless I was well clear of the recommended specs as I find those are simply the ones which will allow the game to boot. They don't choose a spec which will let the game reasonably well as obviously less people would buy the game.

I've only been able to return a PC game to Game once when it was their fault - I took a Tiberium Wars: Kane Edition box to the till and they gave me the normal one when they swapped it for a sealed one. As both boxes are very similar I didn't notice this until later so went back the next day and explained, the manager was fine about it as the two boxes are very similar. I did ensure I removed the original installation from my PC so I wasn't abusing their system.

I can see why they don't allow PC games to be returned as it would allow people to take advantage of the license keys which there is no way of testing. I don't think you've got much chance of returning it as they do make it clear that you can't return it if your PC doesn't run it well enough.

Can't think of any suggestions, good luck.

If your computer meets these requirements and the game doesn't play i would say your entitled to a refund.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OS: Windows Vista or Windows XP

Processor 2.4+ GHz Intel; 2.0+ Ghz AMD
RAM 1 GB
Hard Drive 12 GB free hard drive space
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 6600+, ATI X700+
Online Multi-player: Windows – LIVE membership (Gold membership is required for matchmaking and multiplayer Achievements)

PS: 360 disc into PC.....i was joking!

my specs are above what is required, if you go on the gears of war fourm, people are having the same problem

As I said, the required specs are not for running the game smoothly at a reasonable resolution/detail, they are simply those to actually start up the game. I have a 7950GTX and probably wouldn't consider buying something like Gears of War.

The UT3 and Crysis demos are running pretty well on my laptop's X1600 (latest ATI desktop drivers hacked/installed). I tend to drop a resolution level and bump up the detail for these newer games.

Where did you get the drivers from?

I got a GF7600 512mb in my laptop, I am only using the default drivers that came with the laptop, and games like that dont even come close to playable with graphics all low.

It'll be his graphics probably

They wont change unless faulty [especially on PC games] I've been told every time "We wont accept returns on PC games so make sure your requirements are ok. We'll only accept returns if faulty"

Not for laptop graphic cards, usually. You either have to go to the manufacturer for year-old drivers that may have worked at one stage but don't any more, or go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/, which patch the latest drivers with fixed .inf files, letting them install on laptops.

Or so is the case for my HP, anyway.
