Hi all - I've read some discussion on this topic here before and thought I'd ask for some advice from members. I have just set up a content-based website - topic is poetry and other writing, icluding links to proofreading services, etc - and am looking for a few recommendations for affiliate links. I've just applied for Amazon (5% - possible to get higher?) but wonder if you can recommend any other reputable affiliate programs that might be useful? many thanks for any advice.

I have used affiliate links on sites that i put together and i have found that google is good.

It is also worth finding individual sites like yours and see if they have any links that can be used

Best thing to do is search using google for affiliate companies

have built an online shop with amazon?

thanks sparkygeezer - just applied to google adsense, hope that pays off.

good idea about similar sites - will go trawling...

no, haven't built an online shop with amazon - I'll go look at that now. have you found that more lucrative that amazon referral link?

The shop is not bad but it cost you nothing. People are basically buying from Amazon via your site.

It just takes up a bit of time making sure you keep it up to date.

You could even make a Wii shop and jump on the wii bandwagon, I done a few wii shops for people and they made a load of money just before Xmas

Thanks again - you couldn't pm me an example of one of those shops that did well so that I can see the structure? Cheers

If there is any info re: amazon cashback or setting up a site with a shop on it with amazon then I'd be very interested if someone could pm me too?

7. Will I earn referral fees for personal orders that I make through my Web site?

As stated in the Operating Agreement , we do not pay referral fees for personal orders. The nature of the marketing agreement between Amazon.co.uk and its Associates involves the payment of referral fees for referring new customers. It is important that we are paying for new customers and not simply providing Associates additional discounts above and beyond the already discounted items offered by Amazon.co.uk.

This is quite interesting, basically set up a web-site and advertise Amazon and receive a commision on people's purchases, does this bit quoted above mean that they only pay out if you get new customers or does it not matter whether they've shopped there before and you'll keep on receiving the payment for recurring purchases?

By 'new' they just mean anyone but yourself - i.e. the affiliate.
