I will be moving home in the next few weeks & unfortunatley pets are not allowed so i have decided it would be fairer on my cat to find him a new loving home.
He is an adult tom cat (neutered as a kitten) and is almost 12 years old. He is completely house trained using a litter tray and preferes to be indoors curled up on your lap. He is very, very affectionate and would make a good companion for somebody. His main hobbies are eating, chasing his tail & sleeping
I will also include his cat carrying box, litter tray, food bowls & any litter/food i have left.
I am happy for you to come round and meet him before you decide.
The picture is of him a few years ago but he really hasn't changed much. I will get some newer ones and put them on here too.

I am posting the main thead for my girlfriend lazylene !, so PM her instead please.
as she is new to this forum, so i set up her account & she is finding out to use it right so give her some time please....

I agree, if he is well trained etc , then shouldnt be a problem , awww, dont break those kids hearts and disrupt the poor cat when he is getting old :(

Consider contacting your local cats protection. We were in the same position earlier this year (we'd only had our cat 2 hours, but since he was a a kitten) ... CP took him and he is fostered with a really lovely lady quite nearby.

Broke our hearts giving him away like that, I still feel [email protected] about it. :-( The silver lining was that I KNEW he was going somewhere good.

has he got all his vaccinations up to date and is he healthy and all?
i have a friend who lives in Quinton who said she was considering a cat, i can ask her if she is still keen for one.
she lives in a house with one child aged 10y.

Hi there, this is my boyfriends account, i am lazylene but we both have advertised him.
He had all his vaccinations up to about 2 years ago. He has only been out of the house a handfull of times since. He is healthy and has a beautiful shiney coat. He is very affectionate and loves attention. I have no worries at all about his health. He eats very well and regularly uses his cat box (normally).
He is really goosd with children (mine are 7 and 9). He is usually found in my daughters room with her!!!
Your friend is very welcome to come and see him before she decides if she'd like him or not. I have about 3/4 weeks before i move but would just like him settled before i go. It is really sad i can't keep him, However, with moving & my son's learning problems it is better all round if he finds a new family.

Hi there, i had him from the blue cross all those years ago. I would be happier though if he went straight to a nice family than in there then moved again. It is really hard as he has been with me for so long, but it will be better for him. My son has learning difficulties and i worry he will lash out at the cat too. I'm not sure how i'm going to feel when he goes but i know it will be fore the best.
Thanks for commenting though.

Sometimes landlords will accept pets if you increase the deposit - might be worth enquiring, good luck!

Poor cat. I could never put a house before a pet like that :-(
#28
hi i will ring my mate later and ask her if she is still considering a at, it would be better for the cat to have a good home directly as cat shelters are full and older cats will more often be ignored and left, be a shame to let him end his days that way.
fingers crossed, what is his name anyhow?

That would be lovely. We call him Rascal!! The first thing he did as a kitten was climb up my patio curtains and hang there watching us so we called him a little 'rascal' and it stuck!!!

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but under my personal circustance it is kinder to the cat this way. Having a son with learning difficulties sometimes has to take priority to what decissions i have to make.

He's gorgeous... I'd take him but unfortunately I'm rent and live with the landlord at the moment and her cats have just had kittens so there's 5 around the place - nightmare! I hope you find him a good home... make sure you check up on whoever wants to rehome him.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear......

What a terribly, terribly sad and utterly heartbreaking story. For everybody concerned - the poor cat at his age, the family, and the somewhat...... Well, the somewhat already documented circumstances. Sadly, this is just one of many, many similar scenarios that the CPL have to accomodate each week, there are all too many of these scenarios and owners deciding that the ONLY option is to rehome the cat. Often, as a few of you have hinted, this in fact is NOT the ONLY option, but it is one in which the owners feel is perhaps the simplest for all concerned.

I am truly taking very deep sighs reading this thread, and - well, I won't go on, as I am sure everybody knows my opinion. Lets just hope that whatever decision is made, the cat is thought of as an EQUAL.

Still purrrrrrr-ing.

Cloud the cat

I hope you find a good home for your cat, but I would be very wary about taking a cat of this age again - the one I adopted had really bad dental problems that his insurance would not cover, so he ended up costing me hundreds of pounds :(
