Aunty got a text earlier today from a number she didnt recognise, it said load so she said ok - waited a while and nothing happened. She tried to get off the page but couldnt and ended up having to turn her phone off. When she tried to turn it on it says 'orange' but nothing else - has totally messed up her phone. She is trying to get it sorted now

I wouldnt open a text from a number I didnt recognise, and know that most people wouldnt (very stressful day for us today though, so aunty did without thinking), but just thought I would post a warning of what has just happened

Sorry, dont have all the details - she told mum who told me.

Is out at the moment trying to get it fixed, so no way of getting in touch with her.

Network: Orange
Number: Not sure
Message: Just said 'Load?' (to which she said yes)
Phone: Nokia (I am not totally sure of this)

I heard of similar problems with SE phones. They have to be reflashed which is pretty easy. Good look with it.

Sure it wasnt an incoming Bluetooth transmission ?

You cant send any viruses etc via text, but you can via Bluetooth

No will be a link to the net. When you click it uses the gprs to connect to the net.

Was most likely and advertisement, you should be able to block ads/spam, have a look around in the settings (I have a sony ericsson and there is an option to block advert downloads so hopefully the nokia phone will have that too). Good luck.

You can also disable "push" messages too.

Don't click on links to the internet either............
