As above I was told by their staff that they are likely to offer landline rental from 2nd August along with other packages but BEWARE!!!!

I have spent 8 weeks trying to sort out problems with their internet and phone service and was told by staff yesterday that anyone signing up with broadband will have a long wait as Virgin have no routers or modems at all and cannot source any so, they will sign people up and then just fob them off with excuses until they may get something sorted.

I was offered a deal as compensation by way of an apology from Virgin for their disaster and poor service, but then they told me I had to pay for some of what they offered me so I have now passed it on to ofcom and otelo.

Then I spent another fraught weekend without any service at all and no phone calls or explanations from Virgin as promised.

Staff told me you will be OK if you have a router from another ISP provider as they have worked out a way to override and use them but I am sure Tiscali and other ISP's will not be happy about this.

If anyone does have major probs I do have the email addresses and phone numbers for the CEO's office which may make it quicker to try and sort your problems out.

No idea what you mean as virgin have had landline rental for years and years

As for not being able to source routers; I think they were pulling your leg.

Virgin have their own lines and they also offer a service to people with BT land lines, now they are going head to head with Sky and offer to take over people with BT line rental too

After being told this they also sent me new router today?????

It was tech support who said they don't have any etc.

I guess we have to await 2nd August see what offers come out.

Virgin suck after going over to bt/sky when we moved 6 months ago and me paying off my final bill, I still keep getting random ones through, 12p, 17p and last week 2p all of which is costing me money to phone their premium line as ,my account was closed, paid and confirmed 6 months ago.

Be very wary.

When I finally saw sense to leave NTL / Virgin, I was presented with a bill after I left, with call charges and line rental for a couple of days after being back with BT. After numerous calls and repeat bills, they finally admitted their mistake and told me the bill wasn't payable.........

All was well..... until I tried to buy something on Credit a couple of years later and found they had lodged a non payment claim against me with the credit reference agencies.

I did finally get it sorted (and removed) however, it also means I would never consider Virgin for any services ever again.
