Got ID tonight when I went for a meal!
Ordered a Guiness which the girl pulled, (husbands drink) Then asked for a Vodka and she asked me for ID, I had nothing on me other than my car keys so she made me have a soft drink. But the silly bint gave me the Guiness. I didn't say anything and just paid to see if she noticed!!

What a complete plank. Shame I wasn't a mystery diner, I could of ripped into them big time.

my parents say I should be greatful, as soon enough age will catch up with me. People I serve at work always looked shocked when I tell them I have a husband and 3 kids, they always say I don't look old enough to have 1 kid. Really annoying lol Makes me look like i started having kids at 14 or something lol

Could have ripped into them because they asked you for ID :s they're just doing their job.

How about up carry around your card version of your driving licence in future then you will not have an issue

In the interests of equality I insisted that the doorman at a club asked me for ID as he'd done with the (much younger) person in front of me. Backfired when he did & I realised I didn't have any on me - I was refused entry X)

I got asked for ID for some paracetamol at asda. I'm 27.

Also have you noticed that the auto-checkouts go into 'approval needed' mode if you try and buy a spoon.

I'm going to go out stabbing people with my spoon.
#18
you should write a letter of complaint to the manager and tell them she she gave you one alcoholic drink but wouldnt let you have a vodka, she probably gave you the guiness knowing it was for your hubby (who must look old enough) but wouldnt give the vodka as it was for you, but if that was the case she still shouldnt of served you if she thought you were under age.

lol and its on every items too for over 16! They are the most annoying machines. You could stab them with the other end of spoon, then just scoop out the goodness! Obviously when you need to be Id lol

My friend got ID'd for the lottery from the same shop he just bought alcohol from. He just waved the bag of booze at her and she got all embarrassed lol.

I got ID'd for booze at the place I work even though I've been there for almost 6 years. Some people try too hard :)

in regard to the 1 pint she let you have

"People aged 16 or 17 may consume wine, beer or cider on licensed premises (pubs/bars/restaurants) with a table meal. In England and Wales, it must be an adult who orders,[66] however an adult doesn't have to be present to order alcohol with a meal in Scotland. "

I can see the point here, but she didn't know who I was with. She hadn't seen my husband, we were sat far from the bar. I just went up and ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks lol. Husband did go up after, took my coke back in exchange for a vodka, the Duty manager didn't seem happy that she let me have 1 without any ID.

No big deal really as I got my drink, The male duty manager said he would serve me when he brought our food over. He even laughed at it! Just thought it was a strange way of ID-ing someone lol
#24
had to comment - you can have beer or wine with a meal when over 16.

the barmaid is right. just doing her job. take your ID
#25
edit - beat me to it!
#26
how? How did she know the meal and other drink wasn't for my 7 yr old DD ( who obviously must be a Guiness drinker! )
Well the Duty manager didn't seem to think she was just doing her job.

I was ID'd for a Sainsburys delivery recently. He said I looked about 16 :|

I remember being asked for ID in Asda when they introduced their challenge 25 policy and I was about 28. I asked the lady how old she thought I was and she said about 25. So even though I looked, in her opinion, 7 years over the limit without a shadow of a doubt she still wouldn't serve me.

Could be worse, I was in North Carolina and it's state policy to challenge 30. Got asked in a bar there and I'd left my passport at hotel.

Moral of story, always carry ID as rules made for idiots can't be broken by idiots!
#31
she may have been having a joke at your expense OP, when i worked at tescos a few of the workers used to be so bored sitting on the tills all day that we id'd people well over 21, brightened up the day abit looking down to see that the person u had id'd was 30+ and in shock at being asked.

You do look young.
Bar workers I know hate doing this sort of stuff all the blinking time but the managers are on at them, so they do.
I think it was nice of the girl to let you have the Guinness. She didn't know how that might work out.

But in reality that would never happen. You'd probably get the sack at worst

I heard they're going to start IDing if you look "under 25" soon.. already happening at Morrisons apparently. Don't really like carrying DL around with me, but got to be done it seems..

I dont know what it was 2 years ago but I was Id's 3 different times in a week, not for alcohol but one was for buying scissors and other for buying a ktichen knife(cant remember what 3rd one was)

Were you wearing a camisole? It's just that it reminds me of the start of a film I watched recently.

Lol I was going to ask on here if shops accept any other form of I.D. other than Passport and driving license? I don't have a driving license and I don't want to constantly carry my passport around incase I get a headache and need some painkillers.

I know its meant to be nice when people think you're younger but when you can't buy paracetamol or a lottery ticket it gets annoying.......Im 30 next week!!! :D

Cards with this hologram should be accepted. Bookmakers accept them (I know William Hill have application forms in all of their betting shop).

Both great ideas, can't believe I hadn't thought of the provisional licence! Thanks :)
