in need of some advice and thoughts...

We have a John Lewis washing machine which when we bought it was covered by a 3 yr warranty with them. To be honest I've been quite disappointed with the machine given it was about £500 new, it breaks down on average at least once a year! The warranty is due to expire at the end of April however at the moment we have an on-going problem with it in that it won't complete a wash. Engineer has been out twice and has only made it worse so far - now it won't start a wash!

Anyhow, we've now had letter through asking if we want to renew the policy at £70 a year which seems an awful lot to me but, as it seems prone to breaking down it seems like a good option. Can anyone advise on any other options we have or recommend another good 'extended warranty' cover? Also, does anyone know where I will stand if the current problem is not fixed by the end of the existing cover? Sadly I really can't afford a new washing machine at the moment!

if it isnt fixed now call them and tell them you want it fixing now. Explain how many times it has been out of action and repaired. I would ask for a new machine if the problem isnt rectified at the next visit. If they wont sort over the phone put it in writing...tell them the machine wasnt fit for the purpose and 3 years on doesnt work? that they have 7 days to repair to your satisfaction or replace and if it hasnt been done then you will take it to the small claims?
