Bought really good Tissot watch 3 yrs ago. Now stopped. Went past a place in shopping centre yesterday (Watch Doctor).

Told me that because it was a waterproof watch, had to be extra careful with it, so cost more to replace batteries........£45 to "do the job properly"

Politely told him to insert as many as many batteries as he could muster, where the sun don't shine and once again. turn to you guys for advice on realistic prices.

They can change the battery for cheaper amount. And if you want them to do the waterproof thing, it'll cost more.

But if you are going to fork out £ to do it, might as well go back to the store where you purchased the watch and ask how much they would do it first.

you can go to a local watchsmith who will do it for cheaper.

I would have thought all that needs to be done is the O ring needs to be greased and then tested, not really a big job but the genuine manufacturers will normally charge you OTT for the job.

If you don't plan on going diving with it, just get the battery change in normal watch shop

Thats a normal price - all of my Tissot Moto GP Watches cost this much to get the battery replaced - put it this way better to pay that price than to leave the old battery in there and out later it has leaked

How waterproof do you need it to be?

Unless you are regularly getting it immersed in water then do it yourself.

Poundland had packets of mixed batteries.

One of them is bound to fit your watch.

Just be careful not to damage the rubber seal when you fit the battery.

Do it yourself you can buy batteries (decent ones) for £2-3 ish each, avoid the poundshop ones it may last a couple of years or just a week,

You can buy watch case opening tools for a few quid online (probably about £10 -£15)

and some silicone grease for about £1.60 from dealextreme grease

Does not get immersed as such. Just leave it on all the time and in the shower.
