Ok, got a phone, wife spilled orange juice on it, shop said they couldnt fix it, etc.

I took it into the shop and they ran it through the cycles, but said it is beyond repair, I opened it to find theyd forgot to connect a wire from the touchscreen, so am a little sceptical.

Heres the stuff that works.

phone rings, simcard works, camera works, screen works, clock works, speakers work, side buttons work.

Power button doesnt work, answer call/hang up button doesnt work.

Phone makes a constant clicking noise (the touchscreen type click as if someone is pressing the touchscreen).

Its a samsung that I bought off here not long ago. check my feedback for the exact model.

try take it apart as much as you can (i.e. batt off cover off) and put it in rice for a few days, hopefully that shud clear up any juice left inside, and if thats the issue should fix it

Its totally dried out. Thats not the issue. I need to find the fault to see what part need replace.

There may be sugar damage.

Just keep an eye out for cheap deals on phones. Its really not worth repairing when sometimes u can get a new one for so cheap.

Whats the phone model no?

if you want a last resort i would put it in a PCB bath (just the mainboard/pcb NOT the screens)

And as soon as a phone gets water damaged always take the battery out WITHOUT trying to keep switch it on. Put the phone in the airin cupboard over night then test. You should never keep trying to turn it on.

As it was orange juice it won't be down to the water necessarily. It''ll be down to the residue left which is making things stick. Best thing to do is mix turps/ 99% alcohol with bit of water and try cleaning all the contacts on the board

the term 'water damaged' on a phone generally means liquid damaged.

Yes I know, I probably could have worded myself better. By residue I am on about the stickyness which has probably been left by the Orange Juice.

Which could factor into "Power button doesnt work, answer call/hang up button doesnt work.

Phone makes a constant clicking noise (the touchscreen type click as if someone is pressing the touchscreen)."
