We are staying in Vincennes, and flying to Charles de Gaulle.

Good places to eat, places to visit, transprt advice etc etc.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ok so we have always driven every year we go in January but this year I could not go nd my husband and daughter went, they found it much better without the car, they bought a carte orange, which I had found on the paris visitors site to be the best and cheapest way around Paris, I thought it was going to cost over 30 euros but when my husband bought his it was 6 euros and he could get from charles de gaule which is Zone 4 to anywhere within zones 1 4, it lasted a week but I think they have a problem selling them on a Wednesday for some reason, daughter had gone out a few days before and could not get one but when hubby turned up and had bought one she went and bought one the same day which was a Friday (although she had paid a lot to by a Paris Visite pass) she also only paid 6 euros, so I guess that proved there was no mistake made with my husbands pass, they both used it form busses, trains and metro throughout their stay - so all their journedy around Paris came to 6 euros each Total - apparently they run from Monday to Monday and a lot of people do not know about them, apart from the parisiennes of course. You do have to be preapred and have 2 pasport size photos with you, have a lovely time, I love Paris and really missed it this year.
Just realised you are going on a Monday - which could not be better they run from Mon to Mon you can get it at the airport go to the Train ticket booth

thanks for that info, most interesting! googled carte orange, seems like a good option, although i think CDG is in zone 5, and vincennes is on zone 2, so i would need a 1-5 card. Read a couple of comments that they are phasing it out though? Anybody with more info on this card please tell me what you know

They have been phasing it oput for a long time< I read that when we were looking into it but its still going, I think the Perisiennes would get very upset if theu did and would be given a lot of notice, anyway the one my husband bought was at charles de gaule and sorry if I got the zone wrong but it included that zone so I guess it was 1-5 which is even better for you they paid 6 euros for this which you cant even get a bus a couple of stops for! Do look into it it will be your best bet.::)

thats what we thought until he got there then he bought one and it was 6 euros, could not believe it thought they had done something wrong, didnt question, daughter was already there at marriott village Ille De France at Ballyromainvilliers, which is quite a way away from CDG, he caught train with it and then bus went to the resort and told her, she had already bought a paris visite pass 9expensive!) so she tried the following day to see how much she would get it for and sure enough she paid 6 euros -???????:-D
