Probably not advisable as only have to get one person that phones the cops saying someone is walking round with a gas mask and not worth the hassle as might think ur up to no good like setting gas off and have the armed response out to you.

Don't see why anyone would want to walk around in public with one on anyway so don't see it having a good effect and carrying flares around with you as well

To be fair there are going to be a hell of a lot of people around so it's unlikely that I will be caught. I'm just wondering if it's an arrestable offence to wear one.

If you plan to wear a gas mask while you are throwing a lit flare at police during a students' fees demo, then you can expect to be arrested.

Oh wait...have I guessed your sinister plan?

If however you are resurrecting the 70's fashion of wearing flared trousers then you are entitled to wear a gas mask to hide your embarrassment!

I used to have to wear one when going to Highbury to avoid the Ars*nal pong and nothing ever happened.

You'll be fine.

Actually I wasn't planning on throwing the flares. Sounds like someone has a problem with the youth of today though.

Correct me if i'm wrong

You're wrong, I don't have a problem with the youth of today, I have a problem with the nutters of today

But tell me, why would you want to carry flares to a place where there will be a hell of a lot of people around?

Yh those people wearing flared trousers are right nutters. (Strong sarcasm intended)

I have my reasons. As long as i am not putting anyone in danger I don't see what the problem is.

Is that a good enough explanation or are you going to continue to be a moany old git

VickNanth - Better put my running shoes on then.

FP - No idea what you meant by that comment

If we are aware, in advance, of the intention of somebody to commit an unlawful act such as inciting violence that does not make any of us a grumpy git it makes us an accessory to the crime.

Ooo! Touched a raw nerve!

I have my reasons is such a compelling argument.

It might interest you to know that this forum (and others) is routinely monitored by the authorities.

So if you, having posted your intention to wear a gas mask and carry incendiary devices in a crowded place, actually have the dimwittedness to continue in this idiocy, you'll be treated more harshly when you are arrested because you have done it with forethought.

In fact you've made their job easier.

They just have to look out for the fruitcake in the gas mask!

FAIL!!

And to the OP - gas mask, yes. Flares, no.

They will pull you out of the crowd, to find out why you are trying to hide your identity and then order you to leave (they can do that if they feel you are about to cause mischief).

you may be surprised to know that microphones & forward facing cameras on these smart phones can be activated remotely , no need to enter your homes to place bugs . and you probably also thought GPS was a free/extra feature to make you want to buy that handset , lattittude , wifi .I could go on scaremongering ..but this isn't what this is about ..it's about why someone wants to find out if he'll get into trouble for wearing a mask & carrying incendiary devices in a public ( crowded place) ..go figure!

Gas mask should be fine but you will be questioned why but whatever your reasons (as long as they are innocent) your polite & tell them why I'm sure it won't be a problem
Flares on the other hand I think would be a big no no & think they are classed as weapons the same as a baseball bat would be if your not going to/ or playing baseball

You get the idea

Canny - Point is invalid as at no point have I said I WILL be wearing a gas mask or that I WILL be carrying any flares. I'm just enquiring about the rules and regulations.

ok Mark I am guessing you are going on a student protest,

protesting about something is fine, but when you idiots start wearing gas masks, carrying flares and throwing objects at the police then your message is void and you just become a mindless thug.

Why not go along and protest rather than being a complete ass and causing injury and nuisance to innocent members of the public and the police.

You have a right to protest at the conservatives messing everything up yet again but do it peacefully and get your message across with your voice and not your actions. Carrying flares and a gas mask is asking for trouble, you will get the polices attention and they will use the full weight of the law against you for being a complete and utter **** who is hell bent on causing trouble.

On COPPERS TV show the other day, police ordered someone to remove a face mask at a UAF / EDL demo stating it was an offence.

Expect the same treatment and rightfully so too imo
#31
why dont you just get a job and pay your way like everyone else has too, instead of wanting everything for nothing!!!
#32
I used to hate students, even when at university myself. Lazy good for nothing layabouts - I see things still haven't changed.

Instead of inciting some hate some unlawful behaviour, why not do a bit of revision, get a part time job or at the very least.................................................get a wash ?

Surely wearing a gas mask at a protest, or indeed anywhere, singles you out as someone who ought to be watched as they're clearly not going about their day to day life in the usual manner.

If someone turns up at a protest and is trying to conceal their identity, the police would be right to stope that person and find out what is happening.

As for carryign flares. I can't think of any reason other than going out to sea, or going for a walk over Dartmoor/up Ben Nevis, that distress flares would need to be carried.

i wish i had a gas mask
i was looking forward to oh having a week of work now i camt wait for him to go back, hes making me ill farting all the time

Just so when they pulled me out and removed the mask I could scream 'GIVE ME BACK MY FACE!!!'.

Probably not..
Maybe people have right to be suspicious when OP has openly admitted to having been violent before (the post not too long back about having kicked a woman), he doesn't strike me as a nice person at all.. So am guessing he's not asking this in preparation for a fancy dress party!

I think phrasing your question as "Would I" would have been better then as "Will I" implies you are going to do something.
