Hi,

I am on the committee of my local cricket club, and we did have a website I set up through Virgin Media, but recently it's stopped working and i don't know why, but to be honest, it was a bit cheap looking anyway. So we're after building another one, but none of us really know what we're doing with the HTML stuff.

Does anyone know of any decent, simple to use, website building sites? Needs to be fairly cheap too. Best one i've found is this;
http://www.doyourownsite.co.uk/index.phtml

Anyone know much about this site? Is it a good price?
Ideally we'd need News Page, ideally - picture gallery, calendar and a possibly an online shop.

We did buy our own domain name last year, but maybe thats run out now?

Thanks guys!

Don't know about website building tools but HTML is really easy to learn, and once you grasp the basics they can go a long way.

There are lots of free templates at www.oswd.org that you could use and edit to your own needs. Might be a better alternative to take some time to learn basic html and do it yourself for free :thumbsup:

Not sure about any free web design tools but if you want I would be happy to design a site for a small fee. I need some sites to build a portfolio so if you want to send me the link so I can see what you have and what you want I can give you a price.

I use microsoft's free website service (office live).

OK, it's not as fancy as some of the others out there, but it's free & VERY easy to set up & get going. the templates are all done for you, so you just have to add the content of each page.

As you get more confidence you can even start applying all the on-line hacks that let you customise the pages even more.

Unless you really want to get into the nitty gritty, you would be better off using seperate applications for a gallery, shop and calendar. ie integration is possible (to keep the same colours and template theme), but will need a little knowledge to achieve. All these items are available to download and use for free. For the main content of the site, I would suggest finding a template you like and just using an html editor, to create your individual pages with a menu structrure linking them all together. Its not hard. Have a go!

If its a .co.uk domain, it will last for 2 years. Search on whois and it will show if the domain is still yours or not. If it is, you need to get into the control panel of your domain host and point the nameserver to the web host you decide to use.
