Hi there

I just wondered if this was acceptable...

can you try and get money knocked off the venue if you are having a full day there (getting married in a hotel with 3 course meal 50 guests plus buffet on night for 150 guests) or would it be a definite no no? Also how would you go about doing this - what could you say? Any suggestions?!

Thanks for the help - trying to save as much money as possible!

dont know about haggling on the price but for our wedding breakfast we changed the menu to a set menu of soup, roast beef/chicken and apple pie/choc cake. this saved us around 30% on meal prices in the day. dont know if you want to do that but it saves a lot of agro giving people lots of choices.

Yes of course you could haggle..trick is to say that you are phoning around trying to get the best deal for the wedding etc. State to them how much would it cost etc then after several quotes phone them back and state xyz can do the same wedding package for £xxxx amount..could you beat that quote?..no harm in trying and the venue is making some money / profit which is better than making no money at all I guess..and by the way I am a tight ass Scot so it's normal to haggle lol

I don't think you can haggle, You may be able to if there was say 150 to lunch too, but I doubt it.

They usually have set prices for room hire and its the other bits they sometimes discount, e.g. meals or rooms.
