When I slipped my shoes on earlier, I noticed that all of my toenails are coming away at the base of the nail. They're all loose or detached, or in the process of coming off..

No pain at all, I haven't stubbed them or dropped anything on my feet. No discolouring, no physical trauma, no infection or anything like that, they look perfectly normal except, they're just apparently simultaneously spontaneously shedding?

Obviously, I've googled it, found nothing, and it won't kill me no doubt, have more pressing things to worry about so I'll see the doc with it soon enough if I need to, but I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this before?

Maybe it's some weird pregnancy thing I haven't heard of before or summin to do with anaemia? Or maybe stress.

I'm assuming they'll just regrow.

Anyone else had this?

Eww that piccy is revolting!

No my toes look totally normal, the nails are just cleanly detaching at the nail bed... all ten of them!

sounds like a trip to the dermatologist.

My cousin lost a nail in a similar way, her doctor told her it was her shoes.. believe it or not.
Constant rubbing up against ill fitted shoes can cause your symptom.

At the time - he also said it can be caused by a bacterial infection, which has no other symptoms other than nails coming loose - it can be treated, just speak to your doc.

Probably something to do with your your weekend outing, cough cough.

Your toenails are frightened to go outside now.

Pedal to the metal baby.

Ah, I'm always anaemic... havent been eating properly either due to the morning sickness, dizziness and the stress of it all.

Doc gave me iron pills and folic acid a few weeks ago so I'll have to start trying to keep them down a little better.

I guess that's what is causing it then... thanks hun xx

Just found this on Babyworld
" Toenails - Pregnancy can do wonders for growing hair and nails, but when it comes to toenails you probably don't want them to grow any faster, especially towards the end of your pregnancy when reaching your feet proves to be very difficult. Unfortunately, many nutrients go to your baby which can cause your toenails to suffer and become dry, brittle and discoloured, or even fall off. "

I guessits summin to do with the anaemia which is worsened by the pregnancy and not being able to eat properly xx

There doesn't need to be, mix of anemia and pregnancy pains could be causing numming to the area and you wouldn't know. Do you spend a lot of time on your feet? And no puns about the amount of time you spend off your feet

When my wife was pregnent she also lost a couple of her toenails, she was told it was to do with a lack of calcium in her body, the baby was taking it all from her..

Yep I have kidney problems. Had one two years running same time of the year too. The last one was caused by a seat belt tensioner in a crash lol.

Yeh not really doing there job at the mo only got two days left. Worried they ain't going to do the trick.

Not to bad comfort wise had much stronger infections, but never that drew blood such as this.

To much information I know.

But we still up for a trade?

Infections in mild condition. No previous owners.
