Mobile phone recycling sites!
sent 2 phones off to Mobile phone xchange as they came up with the best price for my Nokia 5800 and Nokia 5530, was quoted as £76 and £63 respectively, just got an email from them saying that they have recieved and inspected them and because the screens are scratched they are only able to offer me £50 and £42. Phoned them up to complain and some guy said that does sound abit low for a 5800 I could give you £55 but they are heavily scratched. I had 5 work collegues look at the phones before I sent them and they said that they were immaculate as I look after all my gadget/phones. Ive asked for them to be sent back so we will see what happens.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with these companys?

agreed-Im betting they come back with scratches to "justify" their valuation-they can hardly send them back immaculate now can they?

Im thinking maybe you should have put it down to experience rather than ask for them back and just taken the money offered-you will get even less if they come back in worse condition than you sent them.

problem is you cant prove they were mint when you sent them, they are trying to lowball you,but they will be sure to do something to appear that their offer was justified

Are they making you pay for any of this postage?

It was free to send them so I hope that they dont expect me to pay for the return, they will probably see how many Keepy uppies they can do with them first and who can volley them around the warehouse th furthest first tho

In hindsight photos would have been advisable first, I do have the word of my work colleagues but I guess that wont stand for toffee!

Hopefully there were trying to pull a fast one and do not touch the screens.

you should have taken pictures of the phones before you sent them and put copies in with them

UPDATE:
I have just recieved this from them!

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately it appears that some clever soul in the warehouse, after reinspecting the phones, put them in a box to be sent on for recycling, so unfortunately I won’t be able to return the handsets, but as this is a mistake on our part I will get the full payment put through for you. I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Regards,

MPX

What a surprise!!! :-D

Without putting a downer on your relief. Others have been promised similar. Keep an eye on your bank account to make sure you do indeed get the full amount and not the reduced price you were first quoted (when they said due to damage etc)

Words are cheap.Good luck.
