family of 6 killed -
and now the death of widnes player David Myers

my heart goes out to them and their families

please drive safe

Six people from the same family, including four children, have died in a collision on the M6 in Cheshire.

Three lorries and two cars were involved in the crash between Junction 16 and 17 at about 2240 BST.

A 46-year-old Portuguese lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The crash happened in traffic caused by an earlier accident on the same stretch of motorway in which former rugby league player David Myers died.

The family, a man and a woman and four children, from Llandudno in north Wales, left Birmingham on Monday evening where they are thought to have been visiting family.

My thoughts entirely, although I presume you mean foreign lorry drivers!! I appreciate that sometimes we have things delivered from the continent but more and more now, companies in this country are saving money by hiring foreign drivers to do the jobs our british drivers could do, but for less money. Hardly seems worth it when they cause accidents - apologies to all you foreign GOOD drivers out there, I know this doesn't relate to you all.

Mr heart goes out to the family, although only one blessing is probably that at least all the family died, only thing that could've been worse would be for one to have survived and 5 die, that would've been like a life sentence, at least they are all now in heaven together.

Hardly surprising really. I know it's unfair to blame all foreigners but you have to admit that there are an awful lot of accidents of late that are caused by foreign drivers, probably because they're cheaper to employ but forget which country they are in. Either that or they don't have to comply with our rules and regulations and fall asleep at the wheel, not sure which but just wish the accidents would stop.

so - so sad

its sad...but cant see the point of why everyone has made this into a hate campaign.
doubt it was drivers intetnions!! come on.... the foreign drivers are earning themselves a living...their employers should ensure that they are qualified and competent to drive on british roads....

im not saying he wsnt at fault..i just think the reaction is a bit much on this thread!

look its tragic..lets not make out i dont care about it... its horrible and i cant even begin to imagine their sadness..... however...starting to generalise all foreign drivers as murderes etc isnt gonna get us anywhere but make the situation even more volatile. in tmes like this its easy to get angry, but in the process ur being very offensive to foreign people. its rude.... and i think that this forum could do without such an attitude if negativity.

just to recap....its tragic and horrible.

Bit of balance eh folks please? As someone who is involved with working in the road network summat like is a horrible day, really wasn't good for the folks involved, spare a thought for those who have to deal with the aftermath.
As for "foreign drivers" how many times in a journey does someone pull out on you, fail to indicate, cut you up etc etc.
A motorway lane is approx 3.6m wide, i know, i've walked along one. Vehicles on a motorway drive less than 1m away from each other at some 70mph, accidents happen day in day out.
The foreigner i am sure never set out to hurt anyone, there for the grace of God and all that eh?
#20
how am i being offensive, each year more and more foreign drivers are coming over to replace british drivers because they will work for less money but they are not getting taught about our road laws and there for there are more and more accidents due to foreign drivers this needs to be sorted out!
#21
I read this on Yahoo this morning.

Apparently their car crashed and then burst into flames, can't imagine how terrible their family must be feeling, or anyone who witnessed it.

A man was killed last night on that stretch of the M6 when he crashed his van into a bridge - they were still clearing that up when this happened

This has always been thread on here which people have lost their lives and yes lets blame it on their nationality? This is what annoys me!!!! No British drivers dont commit any faults while driving? I saw motorway cops and a british (born and bread in England) killed 4 people? Now lets see who can we blame? Maybe the truck manufacturers as they must not be english?

People need to think before they speak!!!! :x

R.I.P to all who died.

well naeem i can sort of understand what youre trying to say but yes of corse british drivers cause accidents but these foreign lorry drivers cause more than british lorry drivers because they havent been trained to drive here.

based on what? I see accident data EVERY DAY and can assure you, the majority of accidents in the area i work in are UK based driver's.
I think you have a serious issue here.
When, sorry, if you ever go abroad, do you drive? Do you know all the rules with regards to doing so? Do you know the local custom's, language, morals etc?
Fair play if you do, but we're not all that fortunate

i would think the reason you see alot of british drivers in accidents is because you live in england. and yes i do go on holiday aborad at least 2 times a year but sadley i dont drive because im 15. but if i ever do move overseas i would take driving lessons in their country to reduce the chance of me causeing a crash.
#30
Well without sounding patronising, you did say, "....cause more than British lorry drivers....." which as a factual statement is wrong.
I'll leave this be now, said my piece, but i'd heed that advice to Mono :)

they have named the family now
