Or posssibly a hdmi > DVI lead
#3

are they not the same lead that comes with the xbox 360?i thought maybe a hdmi to dvi adapter or some might be able to be used??
#4
the leads that come with 360 are similar to the vga ones but are composite or composite & component

yes, hdmi to dvi lead would be better but you would have to use a standard AV cable in the AV hole to get the sound onto your stereo (or amp). Both HDMI lead and Standard AV leads do not fit together, but just pop the plastic AV end appart and wrap tape round it so its thinner. ( Or use the Audio dongle you get with the elites, these are the correct size and fit with a HDMI lead already in.)

If you go the VGA route, then get the GENUINE MS VGA lead in its blister pack, as not only are all the cheap ones complete pap and will give you shadows, but the MS lead in its pack comes with the adaptor to connect two vga leads together if you need it (from the MS lead to a lead coming from your monitor, as some monitors have a hard wired lead and not a VGA port)

If you want to use hdmi>dvi you would need the bit to plug into your 360 if yo wanted Dolby digial 5.1 sound via optical out unless you bought an elite you did not get it.

You can use a standard av lead for this as described in my previous post, but audio dongles are cheap at CEX - DONT go to eBay as you will get ripped off!

Unless you've got an optical-coaxial convertor, and then run the optical cable from your Xbox and into the convertor, and then coaxial from the convertor to your monitor, the only way you'll get sound is through a stereo/cinema system.

I don't think the offical Microsoft VGA cable will help for audio, as your monitor doesn't have the correct inputs.

I already did - get it from Amazon. Ensures it's the official one, and not some knock off version.

how much would the converter cost please and is it easy to set up?

thanks

jeezus, no-one on here listens..

Yes a HDMI to DVI doesnt have sound, but he has a STANDARD AV cable which if you split the end appart you can plug in at the same time as the HDMI lead and use the red and white ends with a 2 quid RCA to headphone adaptor on, which will go into the guys monitor and play the sound out of his speakers

Appart from that, get the official VGA one, it will come with that RCA to headphone adaptor to use on the red and white leads on the VGA cable... Just you will be on a VGA signal and not HDMI

It's only got a digital coaxial audio input according to the spec though :)

To the OP - Does YOUR monitor has a small headphone type port where you can plug in audio?

Or is it only the Coaxial port? would be a little weird for a monitor like that to not have one...
#18
think it only has coaxial port
#19
no worries, if its only coaxial, get the 15 quid adaptor lol, i'd just use a stereo or something though dude, forget the pap built in tinny speakers the monitor has..

Take a pick of the connectors ont he back and post it here

So weird for a monitor to have digital input and not an analogue one.

Could you get an actual picture of your connections.

Edit, pic was of dcx's

But yes, especially as the onboard speakers are sheite

I asked for a photo of the connections not a stupid little drawing, try again, better luck next time.

why do you think you are so important that my reply pertained to you in the first instance, get over yourself :lol

BTW though there is not a need for a photo is there cos according to DGM those are the connections and its already established that the monitor is not really that good for use with 360 without buying something else to do sound. check out ebuyer forum and other places so a photo is not going to resolve it no matter how much any 2 of you thinks the connections are different to that of which OP and manufacturer has already said exists on that monitor.

Too funny on here it really is.
