I bought my son the sandisk 8gb pro duo memory stick and gave it to him today. I was trying to show him how it works but I have a message on the screen saying "Insufficient space on the Memory stick, please insert a Memory stick with at least 128kb free or you will be unable to save"

I thought 8gb was a big size??
Am I doing something wrong?

try formatting it while its in the psp

1. Push the little HOME button on the bottom left of the face of the unit.
2. Use the arrow keys to move to the SETTINGS area, then move the up and down keys until you get to System Settings.
3. Once you are there, click on the "X" button and scroll up and down as needed to find Format Memory Stick. Click on "X" again to select that option.
4. The Sony PSP will now confirm that you want to reformat the memory stick (which removes every file and game save thereon, of course): choose yes and it'll format in just a few seconds.

Done now.....how will I know if it's working?? Does he have to play it and then save what he's played??
It took seconds does that mean there wasn't anything on there??

Yes, just try and save.
Formatting it should only take 3 or 4 seconds for an 8GB, whether it was full or empty.

If you've previously had CFW on it, I would have thought flashing it again would restore it.

Probably right, but I had it done for me last time, and I've no real idea what I'm doing to do it again.
