i thought it was just 17, u can get ur provisional at 16 but only 3 months before u turn 17, and can only drive with an instructor or someone who has been driving for over 3 years and is over 21.

You can take your theory test once your provisional licence becomes valid.
Normally, for car drivers, the earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday, however you can apply for the licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.
So, if you apply for your provisional licence before you are 17 you will still have to wait until your birthday before you can take your theory test.

Nice one lol, and no probs crazyblondchick! I was born in 1990 and am currently learning, but this question is for my sis who was born in 1992, so just curious if she will be able to drive once she passes or will she have to wait lol

There is no new law, it was shelved last year........some idiot thought by banning young drivers it would make the roads safe.......it was soon thrown out as everything that is banned is soooo popular.
