"I want to get a TASTEFUL tattoo . . . "

Sorry, luv, there is no such thing.

All tattoos are tasteless - those on women even more so.

The tattoo craze is a typical example of people aimlessly following others "because it's fashionable". Already, and inevitably, there is much evidence of women bitterly regretting their foolish action , and now they are desperate to have the hideous things removed.

Why not keep your lovely body unmarked, as nature intended?

Ignore, just their opinion. You do what you want.

I think small tasteful tattoos can look nice on women.

i have a tasteful tattoo on the base of my back that no one gets to see unless i show them.... will never get bored of it or regret it coz it is lovely and i don't get to see it everyday. plus i can hide it if i want to......

Got to love Kat Von D, if i ever win the lotto, i am so going to get my ink done by her, lol.

I have no tatoos at the moment, but I am getting 4, which mean somthing too me.

Tatoos on the wrist tend to fade alot quicker, might be better to get somthing a bit further up the arm.

Ink is a lot better now. Although they all fade over time and exposure etc.

I have a couple that i need to get recoloured that i had done about 15 years ago when i was too young. lol. But a couple have lasted really well that were more recent. :)

I've been told by alot of people recently that wrist tatoos still fade quickly. Hence the reason all my tats are going on my back... oh my mother will be pleased when i one day go wedding dress shopping, lmao

Yep and quality of some tattoo artists these days is absolutely a world away from 10-15 years ago, i got a portrait recently and the detail is absolutely stunning, some amazing artists around these days do your research beforehand visit many websites for examples of work before committing

if its dedicated to a loved one you cant beat a portrait tat imo... names are ok n all that but a well done portrait always amazes people, beware tho look long and hard for a tattooist who can do them well....oh and dont be alarmed and go kicking off when its done and doesnt quite look how it should..mine needed a few weeks to really settle down and looked amazing after that, at first it looked harsh and a bit wrong

Hun, everyone has their own reasons for wanting tatoos, the 4 I am getting all mean somthing to me, and they are so not everyone elses cup of tea, lol, but they have a special meaning to me.

It's your body, you do what ever the hell you want to it :) And don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)

totally agree ... if its what you want then its up to you....i have one on the bottom of my spine, i was bought up by my dad only therfore i got a tattoo of a father and daughter cherubs with dad underneath, i chose there so if i dont want people to see it then its hidden but i can show people if i want....i also want 2 more one on my wrist and on the back of my neck small but personal......the only advise i wil give is make sure that its deffinately what you want dont just get anything!!

Tattoos are a personal choice, whether for sentimental reasons or just because you like them, there doesn't have to be any justification for them (which some people tend to think - such as renard).

Sorry to hear of the reason behind this. Hope this helps release some of the burden that is on your mind.

On another note, I like tattoos and think they look good one women as well...

I'm 3 hours in to a 20 hour piece (second session on Sat). It's not sentimental, it's just something I wanted. The Mrs is also having a big piece done (also starting on Sat).

I have 4 tattoo's and agree - do what you want, its your body

My wrist tattoo was done 2 years ago and hasnt faded that was my last tattoo (so far) - its a daisy chain (hand drawn on me then tattoo'd over to get the design i wanted)

It was a day i shall never forget, my 40th birthday - the day all 4 of my sons forgot, it was hot & sunny, sat in the garden thinking they will remember soon & turn up with the usual, cards pressies but no they had forgot....got bored picked daisies, after a few more hours decided i was going to mark that day so id never let them forget my birthday again.

Walked to friends tattoo shop, waited then said i want this ..showed him the daisy chain and he drew it on my arm in pen, checked i wanted it then got on with it

I still love it, and im thinking of having my other wrist done but - they still forget that day every year ah well

(its my eldest sons 24th today i didnt forget) :)
I also have twins aged 19 and another son 22

sorry to hear about your loss

I am extremely and genuinely sorry to learn of the reason why you want this tattoo.

I hope it goes without saying that my comments about tattoos were in no way meant to be personal to you.

They are just my sincerely held opinion, shared by many other people.

Oh, and to the poster who inferred I wouldn't kick that heavily tattooed woman out of bed - I can honestly say that all that stuff is an instant turn-off. I can admire an attractive woman but the moment I see a tattoo, especially those on the lower back, all desire is gone. Same goes for piercings - yecchhhh!

My condolences and sincere good wishes to you, OP. I do hope you gain some comfort from what you intend doing.

Sometimes written things can be taken in the wrong way as you dont realy know how they mean what they say, but as you have said not everyone likes tattoos and that is entirely up to the individual...i personally think getting tattoos are great when they actually mean something because there's always a story behind a tattoo like yours or like mine i had mine done because i was only bought up by my dad untill i was 15yrs old so i wanted something special..... some people do go over board with the tattoos but its there choice as long as their happy with them !!! :)
