Been looking around on google but just come up with places trying to sell me one.

Never been into them but found one that would be perfect (and cheap)

Says on ebay

"looking for around £150 min
please take in to consideration £80 transfer fee is paid and
its £25.00 to put it on retention looking at it that way
the plate is only £45.00 happy bidding"

Will i need to pay more than what i bid on ebay to actually get it on my car?

That is an annual charge if you do not put the number on to a vehicle.

I bought a private plate last week for only £250 and had it valued and they said it was worth £2k.

It was T13 MAD

They told you that to get you to let them sell it for you. You pay whether you sell or not, but if you think it's worth £2k you're gonna be temted to sell, see?
Old trick this one. Kinda like this quote from an un-named company :

"If you have personalised number plates that you are interested in selling, we offer a free number plate valuation service. Our experienced number plate valuation team examine thousands of cherised number plates to find the correct valuation for you. We do not artificially inflate our number plate valuations to gain new business, rather we give you a true and accurate amount that we believe the number plate to be worth."

Only thing is they all do EXACTLY what this lot say they don't!!

That's not to say your plate isn't worth more than you paid (it's a nice plate), I was just saying that's what they do.

Due to the fact that they all try to pass off a '3' for an 'E' just lately, you could sell your to the owner of this company http://www.tie-rack.co.uk/ It would read
TIE MAD lol

Ask them to give you 2k cash for it then, of course they will not.. ;-)

As suggested, they just put a silly figure on the so called valuation in order for you to pay them to sell it, but they will never get anything like that figure, they will just charge you for listing it.
