How do you mod your wii and is there a risk of bricking it?

DVDs will wear out your laser and break it but yes you can do it.

Rubbish they have been spouting that rubbbish on every disc based console there have been and there's no evidence to support it.

How long will it take for that to happen then? I remember running pirate games on a PET in the 80's, spectrum, amiga etc.
Home taping will kill music...thats still around too funnily enough.

Well Basically you can play backed up games and homebrew(if you have the Homebrew channel installed)

There arent really any cons to be honest the only one is opening your console up to put the modchip in, There is no way you can brick the wii if you have a modchip installed, i have a WiikKey V2 and its great!

The best way to mod it would be to use a Modchip that you basically clip on to the Chip of the Wii which is located inside the console!

It is Quite easy to do.

After that you can Play any games You want.

Check this site out to http://www.wii-modchips.com/
Hope this helps mate.

+1

when they the maker stop ripping people off ,people will be more likely to buy games

most games are not worth 4 quid let alone 40 dont know about you but ive id rather just have disc no instructions no box ,label etc and pay a fiver or so

mmore people would be more likely to just buy the game or legally download it rather than llegally download t

Softmod is crap compared to a chip mate because you have to patch and update it all the time to play newwer games its more hassle then a modchip.

Totally agree. I have hardmodded mine using a drivekey, Its a bit tricky but you get the tool to open the wii and then its just a case of removing the screws holding the dvd drive, adding a new cable (supplied) and closing back up, no soldering or anything, and can be taken back to factory supplied easy. The newer chips contains updaters so if in the unlikely event of a patch blocking your chip, update the chip and you are fine again!

All decent chips can be updated, my wiikey is years old in the very first wii and can be updated.

But if you have a new wii with the drive-0 (drive-nothing) only the newer chips will work. Why would you want to use an old chip anyway!
