I think it had to be the egg but not just one egg, but many eggs that were in no way related, that would have been wrong

the egg

workings out = a 50/50 guess

neither, they both evolved spontaneosly at the same time

They both came around simultaneously lol....either that or the egg was left in a hotspot....hot enough for humans to invent fried eggs. :-D

nobody can "answer correctly"-this has baffled everyone for years and there is no proof either way.

if its not a chicken egg then the EGG came first as it could be laid by dinosaurs - which came before chickens

The chicken came first.
The chicken had to get laid before the egg could be

Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

If the chicken was male, and it was his first time I'd imagine he came first (bearing in mind that fetuses always start off as female, so the egg would be female). :)

The egg came first.

Its is widly agreed now that birds evolved from dinosaures. Dino's laid eggs therefore eggs came before the dino evolved into a chicken QED

This depends on what you call a chicken egg. Is a chicken egg an egg laid by a chicken, or is it an egg that will hatch into a chicken.

And so on towards our answer(s)

If only an egg laid by a chicken can be considered a chicken egg: Then a re-consideration of the original question suggests: The first chicken (which hatched from a non-chicken egg) laid the first chicken egg. In this case the chicken came before the chicken egg.

On the other hand, if only an egg that will hatch into a chicken can be considered a chicken egg: Then a re-consideration of the original question suggests: Some animal other than a chicken laid the first chicken egg which contained the first chicken. In this case the chicken egg came before the chicken.

I believe the former is right, in that a chicken egg is an egg that a chicken has laid and so the chicken came before the chicken egg.

Thank you for your time.

Dave out.

God made everything at the beginning so I am guessing he made the chicken and the chicken then layed eggs so my guess is the chicken came first.

But if you want it another way the hen CAME first lol x

The egg was laid by something...... via some genetic mutation or evolution what came from said egg was not identical to the creature that had laid it, over a period of time this occurred again and again until we are finally left with what we now know to be a chicken, thus the egg came first, it just wasn't a chicken egg

Or perhaps a chicken was brought here by aliens in which case the chicken would have come first to this planet.....:D
#28
The animal we classed as chicken evolved from another animal which laid an egg which contained the mutation into a chicken, for the chicken to emerge the egg had to be laid first.
Egg came first but both came.

Hate that saying, yes it does. Unless you go by the theory or implication of circle always existing or created in an equal amount (eg. a stamped circle) :x
