what can I do about postie not ringing buzzer when I have a parcel

Hard to explain in title, but most postmen/women in my town never ring the buzzer to let me know I have a parcel or something recorded delivery, they just put one of those red cards in.

I notice its always the ones that come between 8am-11am, as normally ones after that are fine, then again they ring every buzzer in the building and let the first person who comes down to sign for it, the parcel.

ParcelFarce are similar, A lot of times I have been in and an item doesnt arrive, I check tracking number it says "attempted delivery card left" but no one came and I dont have a parcel.

The funniy thing about this is I live on same street as the main post office and sorting office! I can walk there and back to my flat in 4 minutes. and thats going down 3 flights of stairs.

Maybe just have a word - tell em your not impressed, get their name, and threaten a complaint if they do it again. Or put up with walking 4 minutes? (post office)

ParcelFoce - take a look at the other parcelforce thread..

chances are if it's a large parcel - going via royal mail, the postie won't even have it with him, and you automatically get a card asking you to go collect it. Postie won't want to carry it around with him if you are not in to accept it - he'd rather you collect it or arrange a re-delivery when he/they know that you'll be in!

Nah they are tiny parcels, ParcelForce ones were just packs of sweets, which for some reason come by PF, and its just DVDs that come in post for me, so they all fit through door.

I dont mind walking, its just often im in a rush so cant collect them, plus have junkie chav neighbours, who are likely to steal the card.

ryouga, its more of a pain for postmen to have to take the item back to the depot than to deliver it so i imagine theres a bit of confusion going on, are you in flats maybe the posty is hitting the wrong button or something,

jayhab i work in a sorting office, if a postman deliberatley leaves a parcel behind wether he knows the adressee is in or not, then he will be fired on the spot and possibly up for treason! (the law still stands)

If its my usual parcelforce man I have no problems, he just chucks everything over the railings before 7am. But, I have this problem sometimes. I have 6ft high railings and gate which I go out out seven and open (checking the post box on gate at the time). Then if I am expecting post I go and check every now and again. Then I find the red card in the postbox on the gate. They dont even bother to open the gate and knock on the door. Complaining is no use, it just happens again. Oh well:roll:

I briefly touched on this in the other thread but I now do not pay any extra for delivery! I end up collecting it myself anyway, complete waste of time and money
