im asking as a workmate has overheard another employee at work saying mine and another workers facebooks profiles are being watched due to complaining about hours. the comment they were on about was when i said on my status i was 'back to work tonight =(' and the other person commenting saying 'welcome to my world'

is it just me or is there nothing wrong in mentioning what shift you are on? i work in a care home so understand nothing about residents or working practices and procedures can be said but seeing as my deputy manager is on my friends list i wouldnt anyway. do they have a right to pull me for talking about shifts on facebook or not? other workers complain about shifts more than me so cant understand why i appear to be getting singled out

i would say you have done nothing wrong, you have not breached any confidentiality issues, you merely mentioned the fact you were at work, i shouldnt worry :)

i'd too say you have done nothing wrong, if someone is watching you and going to complain about you , delete them off yourt facebook so they can't see what you're saying and set your profile as private = easy :0

i think you should know better to talk about work on fb, ppl are getting fired all the time, and they can watch it cause its a public forum, why do you have your bosses as friends, if you were private then they couldnt see what you were saying, if your using fb at work then your doing it on company time and you can certainly get sacked, but if your at home, then leave work at work

Where I work, Facebook status updates have been used as reasons for disciplinary proceedings.
Two main cases, one people accessing it when they're at work - i.e. they should be working not on social sites.
The second one, when people have been off apparently ill then spent the day updating it they they had a hangover or didn't feel like getting up that morning etc.

profile is private already :)

i shouldnt have to delete people though, i do see them as mates and have chats as mates not about work. i dont know who has said it so i would have to delete everyone from work and i dont want to do it

but obviously some are being sly...... your friend heard someone speaking... who did he/she hear speaking sounds like they could be number one target!

its on your time... as you didnt say anything bad about someone at work....
as long as you dont use facebook during work time... you should be ok.
and as long as you dont say anything bad about the place you work or people that work there

if "work" make a comeback on it... just say you had a long and tiring weekend... and would have loved to have been sleeping :)

there are thousands of people would be glad of your job, stop complaining, if you dont want your job give it to someone who does, if you were my employee i would sack you, but anyway, how did your boss get your fb anyway?

HI I have been a union shop steward for 15 yrs up to this year if what you have posted is all you have posted then your employer can do absolutely nothing. however if you have in anyway brought your workplace into disreute by your postings then that is entirley different and you could be fired. again if you posted what you said you posted sleep easy and by the way they are probably watching youyr face book because your boss has give then your details.

p.s facebook is without a doubt the biggest waste of time & resource ever invented! why let people know you are out etc and get your house robbed.

i dont know who it was. only person who i would think to do it is my deputy who complains more than me, so i dont think it could be her. also her and another worker chat alot on there and always on about shifts, surely she wouldnt be so contradictory

Well lucky for both of us your not, look all im saying is people are never done complaining, when you were interviewing if your boss had said to you, what is your view on people accessing fb on compnay time, and also what is your view on complaining about work on fb, i bet you wouldnt have said here your attitude stinks shove ur job m8
#28
accidently remove your boss from your facebook :P

or your work people.

never leave your facebook logged in at work or on your phone.. we have too many jokes happening in our work.. where we edit other peoples facebook... only time before that becomes serious :P

luckily we're good friends at work too... which is why things haven't got bad.

i was just so shocked that they are watching me based on that! i know people get sacked due to facebook comments hence the reason im careful never to mention residents names and stuff that goes on at work. also wondering if complaining about shifts can be a sackable offence, just so i know where i stand

Again if what you say you have said is it, then do not worry. Any steward worth his salt could defend this in a matter of minutes. i hope this is what you needed to hear " f/b is a thorn in the side for both employers and employees.Just do not mention work or if you do, do not have your boss as a friend

you were asking what could happen to you cause your boss was spying, if you don't want critcism dont post on a public forum, seems like this is what got you in a tizz in the first place.
As for the rest of you, wise up with your cliques, the comment about a stick up ass was downright rude, you should be ashamed of yourself.
