What car?

Hi all.

Been interested in doing something like this for years, and finally got the spare funds available to do it!

Basically my plan has been to hire/rent/or use my own garage to do up a car.
I'm 20 at Uni, have a reasonable amount of spare time, and with the clocks going back soon, lots of late nights to tipple with a car.
With my Friends also, 3-4 of us, messing around with it getting it to look really good.

I've been looking at Supra's, FTO's, i like the big engine cars, always liked the skylines but at this moment in time they are too expensive for me.
A supra that requires a bit of work could set me back £1500-1600 if im lucky, FTO's are quite a bit cheaper.

What other cars are there this engine size, modification wise?

Any information is much appreciated.
Regards

A friend of mine just bought an old Jensen in pretty rough nick and has set about doing that. Quite the project but it seems will be worth a tidy sum once completed and back to original spec. Might be worth a look

Impreza turbo? If you've got the time, inclination and money to play with there is still not much on the road that'll keep up. Looking to park mine up this year and have a bit of a play with it:thumbsup:

Ford Probe, Remember them?

Could be a good project and I'm sure you can pick them up really cheap.

Not everyone's cup of tea, I used to like them. Perhaps I'm the only one who does?

20 year old male?

At uni?

Fast car?

Fast, old car?

Parked on the street?

Parked on the street in a university town?

Modified?

Oh dear, there's going to be an insurance underwriter laughing all the way to the bank when you get that car!

Is it just me or does this person always have something negative to say??

What the kid does whilst dodging tax and using his student loan is absolutely none of your business. He didn't ask for your opinion on the world, just what car might be worth a look. If you don't have anything useful to say, don't say anything at all.

I would agree insurance on modified cars isn't great but it's perfectly obtainable and many specialist companies deal with just this sort of thing, perhaps if you knew a thing or two about this you wouldn't pipe up.

Not to mention that I'm sure you would be the first grandad to be thanful that he is in his garage sorting his car which he bought with his money rather than getting drunk, terrorising the likes of you and probably stealing your knomes. After all, that's what all students do remember.

Sorry to spoil your thread dude.

What about a good old Cortina or old school escort, you can get some real grunt out of them if you modify and tweak the engine carefully.
