What convertible should I get?

We are thinking about purcasing one of the above-mentioned cars in a 1.6L form for a bit of fun in the spring/summer. Does anyone have and experience with these cars. One is available on e-bay (low mileage) that has caught my eye but it needs a new rear window.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

PERSONALLY

I would never touch a Renault again, Megane was the worst car I ever had due to costs etc

could of been bad luck though

I had a Renault Megane Fidji 1.6 16v on an 02 plate and was one of the best, reliable cars I ever owned.

The rear windows on a convertable could be pricey so work out the cost of replacement first before you buy.

I'd agree with you there, never owned one, but have worked on plenty, they must have all been POETS cars, the build quality & electric's are abysmal, but then you will find someone that loves them

I have had 2 Meganes 1st one was nothing but trouble 2nd was ok untill renault touched it just had loads of problems with renault themselves! Would never buy another one!

PT

so good I may get a new Chrysler this year

Ive had a few Meganes and found them reliable but the build quality is a bit naff, the one we have now is a nice car but things like the warning light for the n/s air bag keeps coming on...:-(
No worse than other cars I guess when you are buying s/hand, you will get the same stories whichever make you asked about.
As another poster said, check the cost of the rear screen before you bid, you may check local car scrap yards...

tempted to get a 300c chrysler when i get back to oz for a little while just to see what theyre like.....reliability apparently a prob tho

you will feel a million dollars in a saab, they still turn heads.........trust me fam ;p
#21
I do like the SAABs but the fuel economy seems abysmal 20-30mpg.

I was looking at an Astra too.

Had a mk1 years ago and had a bad experience with it.

There is a SAAB 9-3 on flea bay, a 2002 face lift version with a low pressure turbo. I can find any info regarding fuel economy. Can anyone help me?
#28
Go for the megane :-) I did 34,000 miles in mine last year (not the convertible unfortunately lol) and I have to say it's the best car I've ever owned - and I've had quite a few ! It's comfy, reliable, fast, looks good - and I've just ordered a new one ! They are renowned for dodgy electrics apparently but I've never had any problems - touch wood ! - tho my mechanic did tut when I said I'd ordered the new one lol.

Whatever car you get just make sure you look after it well - and that it has a full service history - it makes so much difference to the life expectancy just to do the little checks that need doing regularly. And have fun of course :-) !! (And think of the great sports cars you can buy once the kids grow up and leave home :-) !! )

I'm now favouring the SAAB 93 2.0L Turbo!

agreed... but it will hold it's value better. (especially a decent 80, prob won't lose anything if sold next spring/summer-time)

neither will the saab tho its already at 2/3 grand........tbh for the cash id have to go saab although i do like audi, if your just gonna have it for cruising in the summer then bang for your buck the saab is pretty hard to beat.......leather with all the toys, im tempted myself lol

I think you need to edit your OP title? If you are open minded about what car you are going to get then change it to "What Convertible should i get?"

(A4 ragtop get's my vote or if £'s are an issue then the Audi 80 Convertible)

Good point and now changed.

Thanks.

It was a Renault Megane

Yeas, the car on e-bay was originally a megane.

I've now found a SAAB on there too.
