What criteria do you use for adding Rep?

Just as it says. I have noticed reading this site for many months now that all too often heat is added to a deal etc or someone makes known some really valuable info that makes a small or large difference to one or more people and it sort of goes un-noticed.

What I mean is that comments are great and we all like praise but like my childhood years they drift into the mists of time whereas if you add to someone's reputation and put a comment, it stays with them forever and shows others that they are to be respected for their efforts, unselfish nature and their support of the community as a whole.

So if you have added rep for a member, what criteria did you use?
If you haven't then what made you hesitate or decide not to?

BTW - this site is still the best, has sensible/realistic moderators(little bit or creeping there) and continues to throw up wonderful deals which make a difference to us all - thank you everyone!

If someone has extended a hand of help towards others or brings useful knowledge to the forum then that is rep worthy. Basically if someone deserves it they get it.

yeah I don't tend to tell people in the thread when I rep them, if I only get one or two replies to a question then I rep them if they are helpful.

If I get a lot of replies I tend to try to pick out the most helpful ones & rep them.

dunno if thats what others do or not though?

anyone who attempts to help with a problem, even if its not the solution I go for, for their time and effort :)

I rep people who genuinly have helped me. I'm not into giving rep to people just because the support the same team as me (which ive seen done). Nor do i rep someone because they repped me.

so you're the person that gives me loads of rep... :p

i don't rep loads, but if there's a good deal, helpful person etc i will rep them.
If a person defends another in an argument which is justified i would probably rep them too... depends on the context.

however, i have rep'd someone before as i liked their username...

I agree its not right to mentioned that you have repped in a post. I know we can't see what rep someone has but I am guessing that as one's rep increases there are some additional things you can do on HUKD ? I clicked on an edit button the other day and it said I didnt have enough rep to do continue.....

Thanks for responses added so far....
