What to do about Argos late delivery

Basically i ordered a chest of drawers from Argos about 4 weeks ago and the receipt says 'items are normally delivered within 28 days' and would get a call before 16/2/11 to arrange a delivery.

Today i got an automated message saying that i will get a call next on the 2nd April to arrange a delivery and 'Sorry for any inconvenience.' That’s nearly 3 months from the time i placed the order, well over the normally 28 days!

Do i just wait it out? I was thinking of trying to get a partial refund, but because they have written 'normally' instead of 'up to' 28 days i don't think i can do anything. What do you think I should do?

Thanks!

A partial refund ? You entitled to a full refund, just phone up and cancel. If you can't be bothered to phone up,when it comes, refuse delivery then a refund be automatic I would have thought. Nearly 3 mths to deliver something like that is rideculous.

Also if it was just this item you ordered,I would expect the delivery fee refunded too.

normally delivered within 28 days doesn't mean will be delivered within 28 days

I think i have already highlighted that point.

My daughter ordered a snooker table for my grandson birthday, she phoned to check it was going to be delivered in time for his birthday and yes sure it was, to get a phone call a week before his birthday to say it would be another 6 weeks she phoned and got her money back. I think for argos this is normal.

I would definitely phone up and complain, it's worth a try for some money off if you still want the item and don't mind waiting until April for it!!

It's dissapointing, we really needed the drawer aswell. But it's good to know i can get my money back.

I would expect a sofa to take this long but not a small piece of furniture. I've ordered loads of furniture from Argos in past, just flat pack stuff and beds, never taken any longer than a mth.

I suggest Ikea,or look on eBayI've had a 6 or 7 drawer one for about £40 delivered before. Check Tesco Direct too.

Im sorry to hear about your problem with argos direct. If you don't want to phone and waste your money, pop into a local store if your near one, Im sure the customer services will be able to help, and if you do want to opt for the refund they can process it there straight away for you. It is unusual for the lead times to go over by that much, unless there is a unusual delay from the manufacturer, which is obviously the case. It would have been nice to have had a phone call instead of a text, as that is a bit inpersonal!

I ordered it from the store and thought it would be an item you could just pick up, but was willing to wait 28 days. I used gift vouchers as a part payment, the only reason i purchased it from there!! Thanks for your suggestions i'm gonna have a little look to find something similar.
