What do people think of Play.com?

I use to think Play were great, fastish delivery, cheap prices and generally good service.
Recently I've had to wait ages to get anything delivered, I've had the wrong item sent, returned it and then the SAME wrong item sent again. Spoke to someone on the phone who was pretty hard to understand, was promised I'd get an email to resolve the issue and never got a thing, not really very impressed.
Well thats my story, wondering what others have experienced?

ok for small purchases but wouldnt dream of buying anything expensive due to everything only having a 30 day warranty!

i was just looking into that, they offer a 28 days return period which is as good as most i think, but most items have a year manufacturing warrenty

that's what I thought. pretty standard Ts & Cs as far as I know

Victim of their own success. I don't think they can cope now and their service has rapidly become a lot worse.

never had a problem with them, quick fast delivery, cant comment on returns though as ive never had to return anything.

yep defo gone off the boil of late

Royal mail is to blame not play.com, never had any problems

not impressed with their packaging. ordered a hardback book from Play not long ago, and it came in a thin jiffy bag so it was a bit bashed by the time it arrived. a cardboard box/sleeve would have protected it more (like Amazon)

I ordered a graphics card which was 'in stock - despatched within 24 hours'

Didn't receive it after a couple of weeks so checked the status and it said on order - 3 weeks waiting. On the product description it said in stock despatched within 3 days. :?:

So i cancelled it and ordered it from Amazon, got it a couple of days later.

Amazon are the business!!

I use Play less and less these days because if they make a mess of your order they make absolutely no effort to sort it out - you have to post it back yourself at your own expense in the hope they'll credit the money back then wait for Play to eventually process the return and if you're lucky send a replacement out. It's just not worth the hassle unless it's a lot cheaper than elsewhere.

where did you get that from??

Their T&Cs. 28 days to return and then you're on your own with the manufacturer which can be a very hit & miss affair.

See above. Go into your order history and try to activate a return for an order over 28 days. Its impossible as the checkbox is only available for orders under 28 days!

Incorrect. 12 months warranty with the retailer is standard. Play dont offer this cos they are not operating under UK law being based in Jersey.
