my ps3 for £212.50 was expired due to someone claiming a voucher wouldn't work on the 31st of october ! - idiots.

yo man, i dont get why ppl expire, i always spam its much better coz then the thread goes for good.

i only spam if its needed tho, i check with ppl sometimes if im allowed to or not.

but yeah expired is useless really except for deals which are no longer available.

on misc

expire = slap to face

spam = ko

It would be handy if the forums were able to state which user it was whenever someone expires a thread!

Report http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh89/thesaint01/pics%20for%20forum/report.gif your Expired threads, the mods will look into it. :)

Edit: If it's about you posting threads in the wrong forum, you should post them in the correct one to avoid expiration. Although, they should've been spammed, not expired.

Handy for even more victimisation than already happens.

Yep, its normally one numpty who says...."code wouldn't work for me"....2 seconds later they hit the EXPIRED trigger!
#7
I expired it, the OP knows i did, cos for the 2nd time in a few days, the OP posted a deal request in Misc. They asked why and i said why, and yet they request a deal in wrong place, again
Off to bed, but i don't see why you post a thread such as this when you posted in the wrong place, twice. It's not difficult, misc is random chat, nonsense, deal request is self explanatory
Post in the right place and we'd have no right to spam/expire if not, it's fair game i was told

Get a life? Oh please, you cannot take a basic grasp of the rules, they're in place to help, all of us. It's not fair on those that DO play by the rules.......sigh

If someone posts a deal in wrong forum report the post http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif & explain in the report box which forum it needs to be moved to. If you want to help OP also post in the thread that you've reported it & where it should have been posted. I do it all the time.

The biggest problem is wrongly expired threads as they can take a while to get un-expired & it locks the other buttons eg duplicates should be Spammed - can't do that if it's expired. Please :)

Greyparrot, MOD's can check who has expired a thread & if it's not done for a proper reason or a genuine error they do take action against that person. Another reason to report wrongly expired posts
#14
sorry, i think expiring for no reason is bad, (i expired this btw wrong button)
#15
i was about to spam this thread as the member who expired ur previous thread had already explained why, there was no need for this thread, and intenso has expired it by accident so its lingering here, when really it should just b gone.

....it gets boring continually doing that though because someone that can't get a discount code to work expires the same thread 3 times!

But in theory, if it was the same person repeatedly expiring threads for the same incorrect reason, by reporting it MODs they could then penalise them, eg remove their ability to expire deals for a set period until they understand when to use the button - hopefully ? :?

Reporting threads is hit and miss though............sometimes something is done.........other times nothing.

Just to add, you can also "Spam" a thread that is in the wrong forum, so the OP is lucky that they can at least see their thread

Some serious business here, I see.
#21
So what did i do that was so wrong that made the OP post a thread about their grievance?
THEY post twice, in a few days in the wrong forum, i spam/expire AND report and i am in the wrong? Oh well, i tried

not sure Sigma if your post was aimed at me directly but i didn't expire for incorrect reason, just think it's not fair avoiding the rules to get maximum publicity. More folks read misc=bigger chance of help. Its like continuous bumping.

Really cannot get my head around what i have done wrong here

Definitely agree with that one. At certain times of the day I can sometimes report the same thing twice if the OP is requesting help, but after that I tend to give up

Keep it nice in here guys.

Yes, we do have a problem with people sometimes wrongly expiring threads and we take it seriously if we think someone is abusing the voting system.

As mentioned above using the report button really helps us - that way we can check out the post in question and see who expired it. If you see someone posting in the wrong forum you can also use the report button as we can easily change it.

Just for the record boydent999 did not expire this thread. I have now unexpired it .

No, not aimed at you. just general guidance from problems I've seen in last few days - none of them you

Thanks to you too Sigma, just checking :)

An alternative to reporting if you feel you have a longer-term or on-going problem is to use the 'Contact Us'. I hasten to say that I am not coming to any conclusion on the in/validity of claims; just saying.

There is guidance re spamming/expiring in Emma's thread.

Greyparrot. It was 4 days ago. I didn't feel the need to remind you. You posted in wrong place, i expired, you posted a thread asking why, i said why i had done it. 4 days later you do the same. I am sorry but given what had happened, i didn't feel the need to remind you, esp since you made a thread asking why. I figured cos of the above chain of events, you'd not need a reminder, that be the mistake i made.

I don't think i or anyone else will need to remind you but don't be so surprised, upset, angry or whatever emotion you may now feel if you post again in wrong place and it gets expired

What i will say mind, don't be so quick to guess it was me who did so.......you saw that already in this thread and a mod told you as much. No need to say sorry for suggesting i did expire it :)

Some members spam and expire for correct and legitimate reasons.

Some make mistakes or just do so maliciously.

One or two, because it gives them some sort of buzz and probably search endlessly within to find something they could argue has a genuine reason to do so. Why anyone other than a mod would feel the need is a mystery, though they often tell people they are VIP or Super members and alike. Kinda sad - but if it makes them feel important and fill some sort of insecurity, then so be it. Takes all sorts I guess!
