What do you guys think of this holiday?

Sort of swaying towards Egypt, but I've never been and I don't know much about it, except there's cool stuff that I'd like to see sometime in my life!

http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/pso/catalog/Product.jhtml?CATID=66&PRODID=448395330 This is the one I fancy from Lastminute.com. Has anyone ever been on something like this, and do you want to share some opinions??

Do you think it would be too hot in June for a Northern Irish paleskin like me?

Emma - even at the end of September when a collegue of mine came back last year she was as brown as anything and has really pale skin... she throughly enjoyed herself thought.
As for it being too hot - i guess thats down to what tempurature you can stand.

It looks fantastic!
One Question - Got room in ur suitcase for a lil one?

That looks like a great holiday....but June?!!....not too sure I would go at that time of year,it will be very hot!!

I never go abroad in June/July or August for this very reason, way too hot for me,though if that is when your time off occurs I suppose it's down to having a holiday or not.It will be a very dry heat also, which is what i personally find difficult to cope with. For some reason going to somewhere tropical, whilst temp wise is often hotter, because it is more humid heat...I can deal with that fine.

I am sure that you will have a great time, lots to see and do,and cruising just seems like a luxury way of holidaying:)

Factor 50 safesearch no less....typed 'Half naked burnt Oirish gals' & this was the sauciest thing to pop up!!!

@ Muckypup - the dry heat is fine- -I worked on a watermelon farm in australia, 42 degrees in the shade/shed and no humidity and I was grand. But it's really the only time I can go...
#8
Go to Yorkshire instead....cool weather, great beer and not an Egyptian in sight...what more could please an Irish lass.
#9
I'd prefer cider currychops ;-)

Emma , my partner and her 13 year old son did virtually the same cruise last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are pro's and con's as in any holiday but overall if you are flexible and have a sense of adventure then you'll have a great time.
We did a great deal of research before they went to avoid any potential problems and I've attached a few links we used.

A couple of points of the top of our heads would be to make sure you do the optional excursion to Abu Simbel. It's a must do. They never had the option to do the Cairo trip and probably would have done that if it included the pyramids.

June temperature will be extremely high. It was 40 degrees plus in mid May. Not to be underestimated if heat is a potential personal problem. All excursions are usually early morning to avoid the midday heat.

Level of service was excellent but be prepared to tip at every instance along the way. Take plenty of single dollar bills. They don't like coins of any description.

Bottled water is freely available at a good price.

Make sure you take vital medicine with you like Immodium, paracetomol and stuff to hydrate if needed.

Security was good, armed escorts on all excursions but not on the ship. People were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for them. You will always be harrassed by kids trying to sell you stuff but a firm and polite no does the trick normally.

If you want to know any more please feel free to contact us. :)

sensible you....York is great and there are so many nice places within easy travel distance...can recommend Harrogate (call into Knaresborough o the way and walk or row along the river) and Pickering where you can take a ride on a steam train.

You'll have a great time...particularly if the weather is kind.

Good post Hottoshop, very interesting.
Currychops, you are right, you can't beat Yorkshire for a decent Holiday.

Anyway Emma, I think it sounds great and it looks like you will have a great time. Would you get any discount from Lastminute.com for that competition thing you did last year?

It's a double edged sword really - husband is from Leeds, but we now live in Dorset. He needs to make frequent visits to a terminally ill family member, so we have booked the cottage so that for part of the kids 1/2 term, we can combine family things - Eureka, Jorvik etc and 'pastoral' visits

Went on a cruise in the Red Sea in January.
It was absolutely fantastic!
The Service, food and cleanliness was far better than ever anticipated.

We cruised from Sharm El Sheik up and around the Sinai Peninsula.
Visited the Wonderful Rose City of Petra, saw Cairo and the Pyramids, visited the Valley of the Kings (a bit disappointing, as we didnt have enough time), Karnak Temple - just so vast, and had a mini Nile cruise too.

The weather was just right...about 21C...(I am fair skinned and hate the sun) even I had a colour when I returned home to the snow!

Egypt is a very big place though, and a lot of the excursions should be undertaken via a reputable company....we had armed guards in our coaches all the time and felt very safe.

It was our First cruise and certainly wont be the last....I wouldnt even consider Egypt in the summer months...

THIS is where we went

Minibar is a tin bucket with cold water in it....by an odd coincidence so is the en suite!!!!
Did you accept that invite to 'drinks, nibbles & a chat' @ the Watchdog studios 'Chops?!?!
