It depends....what is it? if it's something to wear you could try the "it doesnt fit" line and see if you can get it exchanged.

i always tell em if i dont like it etc. upset my mum once when she bought me a biker style leather jacket. quite expensive i believe, but i told her straight away i wouldnt wear it. really wasnt my style. she returned it and i got something else. which is better than an expensive jacket wasting away in a cupboard.

Thanks, should sell for quite a bit on Ebay

good on you

don't know why people get upset  my mum bought me some expensive champagne flutes but they don't match a set I'm collecting, she bought them at a place too far to return but just said, use them for picnics, disposables etc fair enough :)

Be honest or all future presents could end up being equally as bad

I am with ants97 on this one. My granma used to say " you don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

I'm honest to the girlfriend but she says i'm ungrateful can't understand it. She always used to kick my ass for lying. Now i'm honest she hates me more.
#17
you say... " thank you very much.. how kind of you to think of me..."
#18
Depends who its from as to whether you feel you can something or not ie is it a gift from a friend or relative etc etc ?

Depends who or what it is.

Could range from "thanks, it's what I've always wanted", to, "have you got the receipt."
