I think it's great.

I liked the Peter Molyneux Demo with the wee boy Milo, but I dont think I would get one just for that, Depends what they can do with it but I dont fancy using it to play mainstream games, so it sounds like its gonna be like Wii fit is to the Nintendo, forgotten about after a few months.

yet again it may be used side by side with the controller for a more interactive game, Just have to wait and see.

they say it's going to be about £60 on release date. Wii fit sold more than 20 million, Depends on the software, but can not wait:)

depends what they do with it.

If they go down the wii road and have me diving about my living room dodging brightly coloured bunny rabbits or the virtual peado game as in that creepy milo stuff then they can shove it but if they can make it for grown ups and I get to vitrually snap a russians kneck in cod 8 or 9 then i'll be all for it.

Wii rip off as far as the motion sensor type is concerned. Much like the PS3 forthcoming attempt.

It's an Eyetoy, and we had those last generation.

In any event, it is a very clear attempt to cash in on the success of the Wii. Will it be any good? No, it will probably be an ultimately shallow gimmick designed to entice people into buying but having no long term draw. Much like the Eyetoy, or the entire premise of the Wii console. Sony's attempt will be the same.

Yes, incredibly. So do millions of others.

The Wii might have limited games which do not entice "hardcore gamers" but it is the market leading console for innovativity.

Whilst hitting the first ace in Wii Sports is amazing, yes, the novelty wears off. Then play games such as Mario Kart, Red Steel, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports Resort, Grand Slam Tennis, Conduit, Okami, Super Mario Bros etc you realise that it can compete with the likes of Sony and Microsft on gameplay.

It lacks online and in the graphics department but it is still the leading console. It is enjoyable to play alone and amazing when you have friends around and you have had a couple of drinks!

Don't for get the fact that films/ whole tv series will become cheaper and we will be able to have pick of what we want with just a wave of our hand, I can see us turning into major couch potatoes. Bring on the popcorn!!
Early days yet but I think this will be a Massive hit, on the plus side I won't have to throw my wii remote about and whilst playing tennis and watch it smash against the wall:) lol

I think it will be crap, good concept but early technology. I doubt it will work as well as ppl think, the wii is ok but no that good even with remote sensor.

Just a gimmick

What 'millions' of people are these? It won't be the millions of 'hardcore gamers' that you mentioned, nor the millions of consumers that have purchased a Wii, played it for a month or two, and then barely played it ever again. I am sure there are plenty of people who have bought a Wii and gotten into it in the long term, but millions? Unlikely.

It is certainly innovative. No argument there. But the leading console for innovation? Possibly, certainly in the way that it has been constructed and marketed, though it may struggle on more technical criteria. Depends on what you're including in that and how you're assessing it.

Kudos for mentioning Okami, which is a highly underrated title (albeit one that existed on the PS2, with the Wii just fundamentally adding motion to the brush strokes). And I'm not suggesting for one second that the Wii does not have some excellent titles. It does have some absolute classics. Then again with Nintendo's reputation in developing software, I'd be worried if it didn't have games of that calibre. But the volume of classic titles on the Wii is far below that on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Far below. You're spoilt for choice on the latter two, whereas on the Wii you really are only looking at a handful of titles at best. The fact that you have mentioned Red Steel in your list, a game that is distinctly mediocre, would seem to demonstrate that quite well.

It certainly is the leading console in sales, and Nintendo have pulled off nothing short of a stroke of genius in how they market it. But long term customer satisfaction for the console is very low. The one figure that demonstrates that is equivalent software attachment rates, or in other words how many games are bought per console. And last I checked the Wii's software attachment rate was round about half that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. And if you take away Wii Sports, which gives an artificial boost through counting towards that despite being bundled for free with every console, it comes to about a third.

The reason why I label the Wii as a gimmick is due to this low long term satisfaction, which is something that Nintendo has made no effort to rectify. Indeed, their market strategy entails the opposite, namely tempting the consumer into a purchase on short term fun rather than long term positives. The result is millions of people flocking to buy the console and playing it for a relatively short period of time before becoming bored with it. That does not happen with everybody. Far from it, and there are plenty (I imagine you are one) who will stick with their Wii and get a great deal of entertainment out of it in the long term. But such people are quite simply not the majority, which is how Nintendo have designed it. And that is what gives the Wii its well earned reputation as a product of hype and one based on a gimmick rather than something that is sustainable long term.

Interestingly, the question of whether this technology can sustain long term interest is one that the industry has to prove. So far it has not been, but certainly the first developer to crack the long term issue is going to make a huge leap forward.

I know it's just a gimmick but with well over 50 million sales in the Wii who knows. Just have to wait and see :whistling:

i think it is a gimmick. millions dont necessarily disagree, millions just buy it coz it's great at first but it soon gets boring and they keep it coz they've already paid for it. just my opinion.

Its getting crapper by the second they're releasing more info making it worse now (30 fps, using xboxs power, might not even play high end games like promised). I thought it was gonna be good.
