Only a couple of days now left to go to the big day.Its a funny thing the older i get the more i seem to enjoy christmas, maybe its because we had our wee boy so late on in life. But at the end of the day i think it stems from both my parents, who have both past away now. They alway had a great love and religious respect for this time of year.Yes they always got caught up in chrismas as we all do.The shoping the christmas cards the presents and all the razz-ma-tazz.But they always did there best with what they could afford, and always made up hampers of food and gifts, and left in with their local church.
so i would ask everbody to think to maybe this year when out buying presents maybe to buy something extra and leave with your local hospital or salvation army or st vincent de paul or any local church.Well to get back to the question what does christmas mean to me.I think it means being with family and good friends, and catching up on people we have been to busy to pay any attention to,because of our busy lives. But i think this speech from one of my favourite films at christmas sums it up better the i ever could.
Tonight I want to tell you the story of an empty stocking.
Once upon a midnight clear, there was a child's cry, a blazing star hung over a stable, and wise men came with birthday gifts. We haven't forgotten that night down the centuries. We celebrate it with stars on Christmas trees, with the sound of bells, and with gifts.
But especially with gifts. You give me a book, I give you a tie. Aunt Martha has always wanted an orange squeezer and Uncle Henry can do with a new pipe. For we forget nobody, adult or child. All the stockings are filled, all that is, except one. And we have even forgotten to hang it up. The stocking for the child born in a manger. Its his birthday we're celebrating. Don't let us ever forget that.
Let us ask ourselves what He would wish for most. And then, let each put in his share, loving kindness, warm hearts, and a stretched out hand of tolerance. All the shinning gifts that make peace on earth. (The Bishops wife)1947
So i would like to wish every one on this board A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS AND WISHES COME TRUE IN 2009.
