are the r4 and m3 still supported (firmware wise)?

I like R4 cos I'm used to it and I think it's pretty much accepted that the updates list is as good as any for compatibility reasons obvo.

The standard one only gives you upto 2GB using 2GB Micro SD card - newer models can handle HCSD cards (high capacity sd cards 2GB+)

Watch out cos this thread is gonna be shut down pretty soon...

I've watched a demo on you tube and it looked so easy.. I've got winrar and have ordered a R4 revolution with a 2gb card.. I just need to back up the very expensive games I bought my boy for Christmas..

Don't know about those specifically but Prof layton is pretty new so I'm thinking the latest update would be very recent, you never know updates could stop tomorrow if honest - been bleeding brilliant so far though. I like the menu style too if honest - really clean and clear.

Can always check R4DS.com?

Prob the best £20 I've ever spent for ther hours I've gotten out of it - had mine like best part of 2 years or something.

You go here, download the 4 files (think it's 4)and then put them on the root of your memory card.

Updates itself for you once you place the files on the root, really easy - it says the last update was in April '08 but I had to update a few weeks back to play professor layton as a back-up.

If I buy this and a 4gb card can I then transfer games to it and play them?

You could, but don't.
Spend a few pounds more and get a better card.

My current favourite is the Edge, it is cheap enough to be a first choice these days.

That takes upto 32GB's :w00t:

Imagine having 32GBs of games on that baby and having to scroll to the middle section of your .nds library:-D

Nice looking - packaging aswell.

I imagine all the SDHC would take 32GB's, I have 4GB in my son's, but that is probably too much.

The packaging is absolutely mint. I am not usually swayed by this sort of thing, but with the price drop, I am ordering more of these all the time.

Can't disagree enough.

I stopped buying these months ago because of the high % of failures. I sent two back last week, and received the replacements yesterday. I took it back to my friend this afternoon(Lent him an Edge in the meantime), and he called me at 7pm today to say it isn't working.

When I went around, it was working again, but I know I will receive a text soon saying it is gone "Kapput". I will replace it with an Acekard at my expense.
If you get a good one, they are perfect, but shoddily made in general.

Plus one killed two DS's of my friends which I have to pay £30 each for Nintendo to fix.

Yeah I know, even on my 2GB R4 I can get a ridiculous 40 roms on there dependant on size obviously. I'd imagine the Edge's menu would slow down to a crawl if you had masses too much on the card .nds-wise.

I've got an R4DS SDHC coming with an 8GB micro SD, but might get an Edge as well just to try one out, see if it impresses me.
