I bought a dryer from currys last the other year and took out the above cover for £60.
anyway my dryer started over heating a few moths ago and the door seal has broke, I reported this and they sent out an engineer after a week, he said that I needed a new door and fan, and that he would order it and fit asap. anyway nothing happened, I rang the engineers direct as he gave me number and they said they where still waiting for parts. Really angry today as I have rang them again after 6 weeks and they say they have closed job. so I phoned What ever happens insurance and told them that as Its been more than 6 weeks according to the terms on my contract I am now entitled to vouchers to buy a new dryer. They said I am not as they engineering firm have told them they fixed the fault!!!!!!!!! Now I have to report a new fault and wait in all day Monday for the same firm to come out again!

I would make him fix the dyrer or hold him hostage.......

thats bad....I hate it ..my TV broke..paid the extra for the cover and yet they still managed to get out of fixing it....

Good Idea

This is why I hate buying these covers, theres so many horror stories out there! Some people will do anything for money and putting off actually doing a job! My mum went threw something similar with 'waiting on parts' She phoned everyday and eventually after 8 weeks got her washing machine fixed ( funnily enough, I think it was Currys too! )

Hopefully the same guy will come out on Monday and you can give him a piece of your mind :-D Ask to put in an official complaint somewhere, these people get away with too much!

Anyways, hope you get it sorted, and Merry Christmas :santa:

last time I had to take a days holiday leave to wait for him as they wont even give you a time, I am sure it will be him as he said to me "oh yes I service all the white knight dryers"
Thanks anyway Merry Christmas to you too:)

You can prove it, any completed job sheets would have your signature........tell them they MUST provide you with proof of this.

Then if they send you something they've forged.........off to the Police with it, if they can't provide it then demand your vouchers.

Either way, report them to trading standards.

Then issue them with a small claims court summons........worth the £40-£50 and you'll win your costs back. They can't win as they are in the wrong. :)

I'd also start shouting about Financial Services Authority about the sale of the warranty, Sale of Good Act and the fact that the item "isn't fit for purpose".

Talk to an organ grinder, as the monkeys won't know what you mean, but the bosses will.

I sometimes find that on a really busy day in these shops my loud protests about poor customer service, shoddy goods, general ignorance of the Sale of Goods Act etc gets a manager out quickly and the problem resolves itself.
Do not be afraid to take on these people through the small claims courts. You can do it simply on line now, for as little as £25 (depending on claim size and you get this back when you win). Any consumer rights website will tell you how to, and check household insurance etc for legal assistance. It is the retailer you have the contract with and they should not be allowed to fob us customers off quite so glibly with shoddy goods and services. No wonder they are going bust.
Rant over.
