+1 for free all-in-one software.

it also has the defense+ protection i.e. notify you when something/one tries to make change to the critical elemnts of your system

installing various software *may* give better protection, but they consume your CPU and RAM power

i find avast and comodo run perfectly together and consume next to nothing on power

I was always a bit of an avg fangirl, but have recently switched to Avast, it does what it says on the tin, and when the tin is free you can't complain. lol

MalwareBytes is an excellent tool. personally I don't bother with a firewall, I was told a router acts as one anyway, and I've never had any problems.
