It's fun though. Particularly when some people make it their lives to defend fiction as fact.

The suggestion that I read was that God, being all-powerful, made pockets of fresh water. I guess there weren't any 'evil' fish :)

It was an 'evil' ship and needed to be destroyed!

The same thing that happened with all the other floods that happened in that area with some regularity.

Yep. I gave up believing the myth of the evolution theory too!

There are no holes to poke in evolution - just great big fathomless pits.

they should do a spoof remake of titanic where the ark hits an iceberg and there's a hippon on a door at the end..... that would be cool.

Randomness and the idea that there's no 'purpose' to life are scary thoughts to some people so I hope no one attacks you for admitting this.

Actually, floods in that area were regular occurances and many cults/religions at the time had stories about floods and 'virgin births' so let's not just pick on the Bible here.

You don't get scared?

Fear is an evolutionary response to danger that we, and many other species have developed over hundreds of thousands of years.

So if you don't get scared, then that is all the proof you need against evolution, and don't let anyone tell you differently:thumbsup:

In this imaginary world, Noah took two of each animal on board the ship. That includes fish, he just had a few fish tanks on board.
#18
is it me, or is there fundamental design flaws when sizing for 2 of each animal in the world?

Built into every person is "caution" (fear maybe) which warns us about doing dangerous things. I am not happy about being on high places, but I'm not scared of heights. Fear is not a bad thing, but being scared can stop us overcoming our fears. I don't see this as part of evolution, and most Creationists believe in a form of evolution (adaptation), but instead it is a human response to social interaction. Most fears are written into the mind of a child by their parents.

Read the text and you'll see that he did not take fish on the Ark. Doesn't matter if you don't believe in the story, you are building a strawman to knock down yourself.

You are making the same mistake again. You are not reading the text. He did not take two of every animal, he took two of every kind (species) of animal. Therefore he only needed to take two dogs not every breed of dog. By the way, the Ark was not that shape :)

OK then. If it rained and rained, which is fresh water, then the salty sea water was so diluted that the fish were able to adapt

Erm, lets have a look at the passage in question.

Genesis 6:11
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress [c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. [d] 16 Make a roof for it and finish [e] the ark to within 18 inches [f] of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."

the correct text is as follows

Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female".

Everyone assumes from all the ridiculous pictures you see that there were only 2 of each species of animal. But that is not what The Bible says.
Chapter 7 verse 2 states, "Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female". Verse 3, "Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of the all the earth."
The Biblical text is not contradictory, it is people's misconception of what it says that is in error. It does not list all the species of animals, only puts all into 2 categories- clean and unclean. Sheep would be in the clean category, so there would have been 7 males and 7 females. The clean animals Noah and his family were allowed to eat, so there would be enough to ensure their survival for a full year.
The Bible must always be read in context, as reading a verse here or there will not give the full scope of the account.
For the most accurate interpretation it is imperative to go back to the original language manuscripts to get the true understanding.

Not really. There can be huge pockets of fresh water in the middle of salty water. Even if you are correct and the fresh water became salty, the fish could still adapt to live in fresh water. This is a part of evolution Creationists accepts, but prefer to call it adaptation.

God instructs Noah to board the ark with his family, and seven pairs of the birds and the clean animals, and two pairs of the unclean animals, and "on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was upon the earth,"

Erm, lets have a look at the passage in question.

You are not reading the text properly:
Genesis 6:11:
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them.

The Hebrew word for kind is species.

Isnt it great when one book explains it all. Ignore the COMPLETE lack of evidence, or that it is totally unbelievable......read the book. got a question? read the book.

This isn't the debate here. Surely if you are going to quote a text (from fact or fiction) at least the person doing so should have the decency and intelligence to do so correctly, and approach that text without preconcieved notions. If I quote Darwin I must not do it by twisting his words to fit my personal ideas.

sorry, but i find it insulting when people refer to bible texts as fact.

What I always find so amusing is why do people care if they have no faith what others think?

Or why do (most) evolutionists believe they need to get angry or disgruntled when people don't agree with there theories.

If something’s not tangible or effecting me right now it doesn't exist right?

Sometimes I feel its peoples attempt to look for the truth.

My personal opinion of Noah’s ark is irrelevant.

you feel insulted that people quote from the bible because they may or may not believe in it
