What happened to the Hungry Horse?

For those who don't know, the Hungry Horse is a pub based restaurant and as you can imagine by the name, the meals can be quite sizeable!

Is it just the Hungry Horse that I used to go to that has gone down hill or has it nationally turned rotten? Many years ago I used to pop in now and then with mates and order a meal that would proberly have fed three of us rather than one! Food was never outstanding but done the job for a dinner whilst in the pub. Over the years it seems that the quantity of the food, as well as the quality, has got smaller and worse. My last and final visit, the food and service proved to be so bad it was hilarious. My meal came first, which was small, but what was worse was we had to wait about half an hour after I received my meal for my partners food. What made us laugh was my partner ordered chicken soup, and she ended up with a bowl of chicken flavoured water as the soup was made via powder and hot water!!!!!! Surely if they don't make fresh chicken soup, tinned soup would have been an improvement on this!

We won't be returning!

Thats what I was thinking when writing, and you always imagine things to be bigger, better e.t.c. the longer time has passed. Its more the fact that an establishment, even a pub lunch, thinks that serving powdered soup is ok

Ive been to a Hungry Horse once in Somerset about 3 years ago. The food was great!!! Maybe with the ecomomic decline they've taken a few shortcuts OR your chef decided to have a midlife crisis....

Visited one in Kirkcaldy, Fife about a week ago, it was awful.

Food took 45 minutes to arrive, made a complaint and was told they were short staffed, not even an apology.

Our nearest one used to be great but it was taken over about a year ago and is just not the same.
