Worked out quite well for me as it happens. We'd just had our first baby a couple of months earlier so it meant I could bond with the baby and save on childcare costs as well.

Been offered a new job this morning so things are looking up!

I took a gamble and took my bit, it's worked out fine I'm still in a similar role with a company contracting to BT (7 year contract) best thing is I no longer go into people houses, all my work now is down holes and up poles. Same can't be said on a weekend where I do some self employed telco work (set up with my pay off from BT).
