a toshiba equium a300 - 13x

ive had a wee gander on crucial memory and whilst it tells me whats compatibal it doesnt tell me what speed I can go with.

also is value memory a good purchase ? what would be the major difference in spending £20 on 2gb rather than £40 ?

Top ones probably better as its the same price. Weird site and business model Crucial have :?
download "Belarc" to your computer. run it and it'll tell you the spec of your current memory. then match it.

belarc will also tell you everything else you need to know about things hardware and software on your computer
hi guys, thank you for the help.

ive installed that program but it only tells me what my current slots have in (in terms of size) doesnt tell me the speed they are running at. anyway to find that out ? coz id rather have 2 chips running at the same speed rather than mismatched ones.

try a program called cpu-z tells speed make date etc
Why not just open the case and have a look? Its only a few screws and wont take you two minutes.
Once you find out what memory it takes , pop over to the play.com site . They have some really good deals on memory at the moment .The memory for my older laptops was'nt available at Crucial , but play had the very thing for only £8.99 inc P&P . So ,impressed ,I've ordered more .

That's the one:thumbsup: I was trying to think of the name of it earlier. I'm guessing though that both slots on the Op's laptop will be filled to take advantage of dual channel so it'll be a case of buying a new pair at the fastest supported speed anyway.......
