What is Majorca like?

greenmachine12greenmachine12

Trying to work out where to go on holiday this year, (well next).

What is Majorca like? Thinking of going to Hotel Jupiter in Alcudia.

Has anyone been there?

Been all over Majorca, but only a day trip to Alcudia. Great island of which the caves of drach are the highlight in my opinion :)

Majorca is nice. I like the capital. Alcudia has a nice beach. It's very Irish bar. English fry up though in those resorts if that's your thing.

Sounds a bit like perto del carmen in lanzarote, irish bar after irish bar, after irish bar after irish bar!

£1760 for two, for two weeks all inclusive. Not sure whether to go for it or not.

    Caves of Drach definitely.

You should also try the train ride from Palma through the citrus groves in the mountains to Soller, then down on the tram to Puerto del Soller. http://www.sollertrain.com/

The best way to get a good picture of the cathederal in Palma is if you can get out in a boat across the harbour.

What part does she go to? Im not really sure what were looking for, happy with anywhere really. Lanzarote was nice, but didnt seem to be much to do in the day, along with 8 million irish bars but i guess you have that everywhere.

Majorca seems one of the cheaper places to go this year, all the holidays have seemed to have got a lot more expensive.

The water there doesn't taste like it ought to.

We went to that hotel about 8 yrs ago,it is part of a 3 hotel group right next to each other and you can use all 3.It was full of families and thats what they catered for, food was ok better in the Marte, entertainment was great but the hotels were over run with kids, dont think I would go without kids.

Alcudia is lovely, been going there for years. The port is nice, not so good near the Bellevue area, full if chavs. Wouldn't want to be staying at Jupiter though unless you want to be surrounded by screaming kids. So many nice restaurants in the port area too, wouldn't want to be restricted to all-inclusive at the hotel.

See as my girlfriend works with kids all day, i dont think that sounds like a good idea.

Back to the drawing board. Thanks

Was expensive when i went 2 years ago. Expect to pay at least english prices, more on a lot of things. If you haven't got kids the Jupiter complex isn't the place to go. Free access to the water park though. For august as well wouldn't say it was heaving seems the All inclusives are beginning to take hold.

Just spoke to my mum, she has been to Hotel Jupiter, she said the food was great, and hotel nice, best for families, themed nights but aimed for kids. She said Alcudia is like Blackpool, she prefers Palma.

Nowhere is cheap now, well anywhere in the euro. Will have to try and find somewhere else.

Went to puerto pollensa a few weeks ago which is next to Alcudia, was lovely! Gotta say I've been to alcudia before and it's a bit barry and pubby wheras pollensa is a lot more swanky with nicer restaurants, try renting an appt instead of a hotel it makes for a great holiday!
