Difficult to answer, as both of them have pros and cons - my gut would be to recommend the ASUS Netbook but that's looking at it from a cost perspective; I'll add in some links for you to have a look at it so you can see what online reviews have been done.

Edit - Here's the links regarding the netbooks.

If your going for Samsung NC10 then you might to check out the following.

Edit - After talking to a couple of friends via IM, they've recommended the Samsung NC10 if your budget can stretch to it; key ones they flagged up was the additional of internal Bluetooth, the keyboard is good for touch typing, a higher quality webcam with it (when compared to the ASUS Netbook you had selected) and the ability to run several operating systems.

Disadvantages flagged up were an older netbook model (which has been superseded by newer models by Samsung) so the price could potentially drop further (if you were prepared to wait) and the touchpad on the netbook isn't that great for constant usage - I'll be honest I haven't personally used one on a regular basis (I have to switch between so many computer types for my work) but I'm putting it out there along with the previous links I provided.

Edit 2 - Couple of other links to guides with regards to memory and hard disk upgrades for the Samsung NC10 Netbook.

If you were tight on a budget I would agree (I know several members have purchased it) but I think Mum2b was only interested in those two specific netbook models - also the MSI Wind U100 listed only has a three cell battery in comparison to the other two listed (I got the impression that the battery runtime was a key as well).

She also asked "Or would you recommend a different one?" !

You can get a 9-cell battery fairly cheap for the U100 anyway (which i have) and it lasts 7+ hours.

Damn and boulder dash! Your right, the old eyesight is going, but I think she's happy with what she's gone for at the end of the day - if not there is the opportunity to return it from what I can remember of the returns policy for Amazon UK.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!
